I have been in Montana for the last ten days and even though the temperatures were above average for that area, it was much cooler and less humid than at home and the weather was a welcome relief and treat. We visited some dear, fun, friends and had a blast touring together and otherwise enjoying their company and that beautiful state.
I’ve always taken great interest in the news, and at home I pre-record various newscasts. I fast forward through the commercials and watch several different broadcasts most every evening.
I watch a couple of networks to ensure that I get the gist out of how the mainstream liberal media covers events, versus the more conservative (and accurate) Fox News. I also go online and read various newspapers and other news outlets each morning and throughout the day. The net result is that I’m very well informed concerning the state of affairs both nationally and abroad.
In Montana I didn’t watch one newscast the entire trip and barely scanned the Internet news after I finished writing Words for the Day each morning. Last night after I returned home from my vacation, I watched the news for the first time. I was immediately disgusted at the polls which indicated that Obama had taken a slight uptick.
I was muttering to myself that I couldn’t understand how anyone could be so uninformed that they could support this guy when I saw an interesting poll about Obama’s Attorney General Eric Holder which indicated that only 31% of the public even recognizes his name. Holder of course has dominated the news for many months with his radically dangerous and outrageous policies that are destroying our country.
Eureka I finally get it…Duhhh… It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to understand that the public at large is simply uninformed. If something major came down while I was in Montana, I missed it. The same holds true night after night with most Americans. If they watch the news at all, the odds are in favor of their getting a distorted view of it from some liberal network with an agenda, but I’m convinced that most don’t even do that.
Thus we have a country comprised of people who largely don’t know what is going on and apparently don’t much care. Their very future (and mine, my kids, and grandkids), relies on their voting for the people who can best lead this country out of the horrible situation it is in and unless they absorb the current issues through some sort of magical osmosis, in essence, they remain as dumb as a rock about the issues. Most of them couldn’t name the current Speaker of the House or leader of the Senate, Attorney General, or probably the Vice President much less voice an accurate portrayal of their ideology, (even if their lives depended upon it).
Maybe most people don’t care and don’t want to see the bad news unfolding each night. Our freedom is slowly being eroded and our country is free-falling as it takes on staggering debt that will soon reach a point of collapse. Important issues such as the destruction of health care as we know it and other forms of socialism are currently being implemented! The consequences of an apathetic, uninformed, and uninvolved citizenship can and likely will literally destroy this great nation, and soon! And yet people blandly go about their business of barbeques, swilling beer, and relaxing and having a merry old time, as we approach going over the cliff with increasing speed.
This entire matter reminds me of the spiritual state of so many in this country, indeed the world, who pay no attention to God. Many seldom pick up a Bible or attend church and seem oblivious to the consequences.
Not long ago I had a discussion with a person who told me that hardly anyone took my view of the Bible as being the inerrant word of God. This seemed to comfort him that most people agreed with him and not me. This is not surprising to me and as I related to him the Bible predicts that very thing. Many more will choose to ignore the Bible and go about life pursuing other things, but as with our once great nation being destroyed by an uncaring nation of nincompoops, so will the eternal destiny of so many.
In Luke 17 it describes our current situation as being analogous to Noah’s time: People were eating, drinking, marrying and being given in marriage up to the day Noah entered the ark. Then the flood came and destroyed them all. In Genesis it details the consequences: Every living thing on the face of the earth was wiped out; men and animals and the creatures that move along the ground and the birds of the air were wiped from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those with him in the ark.
So much for safety in numbers…
The Bible tells us that God will not be mocked and He will darn sure not be ignored. In order to avoid impending disaster, we need a spiritual revival in this country, (and in order to avoid a national disaster we need a political one as well).
Will we get them?
Gulp…That’s what I’m praying for… “We can do all things through Christ who strengthens us”, but the very first word in that sentence is the first key to unlock the door and the “through Christ” part is essential as well. If enough people will heed God’s word and follow Christ (and get out the vote), disaster can be avoided. If not, well I hope to you in paradise…
Matthew 7:13
“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it.”
