My son Jon and I went fishing in Australia and we took a sea plane 260 miles out in the Coral Sea and stayed on a mother ship. Sport fishing boats were tethered up all around it and each morning we would go out in them and fish the finest fishing waters in the world. The fishing was so good on this world renowned charter fishing operation in this remote area that it was just insane.

Jon and I caught so many fish in one day that we set the all time record for catching the most trophy fish on one of their boats. We caught 83 world class fish including many different species. We used spin casting gear and some of the fish weighed in excess of 160 lbs. The catch was so remarkable that we ended up with our photos on their website as an advertisement for their charter operation.

When we returned to the mother ship we were celebrating our good fortune with some other guys on the trip. They were doctors and native Australians who were very experienced anglers who fished these waters often. My son was showing them some photos of the many fish that we caught and suddenly one of them excitedly exclaimed, “My God that’s an Emperor Red; it’s the largest one I’ve ever seen.

He was referring to a bright reddish-orange colored fish that I’d caught and was holding in front of me by the tail; it was so large that its head was nearly touching the ground.

He roared:“Good God that is one magnificent creature! I knew they were in these waters, but I’ve been fishing all over Australia for one for over twelve years and have yet to hook, or even to so much as see one in person. This is extraordinary! I’d have given anything to catch that fish, or even be there!”

My son Jon gave him a puzzled look and then nonchalantly remarked, “That’s funny, my dad caught two of them and we didn’t even know what they were. We thought they were some sort of giant red snapper or something.”

The doctor looked incredulous and then nauseous. He had a disgusted look on his face and kind of slumped his head and shoulders down and slowly shook his head, sickened by our ignorance and unappreciative attitude of what we had accomplished.

I wonder if that is not how many of us appear to God when we merely take for granted the tremendous honor and privilege afforded to us by God to live in a country where we can freely worship our Lord and Savior. So many countries, particularly Muslim countries, will not allow Christians to worship and will even put people to death over even owning a Bible or trying to witness to others about Jesus.

This is a big deal. Freedom of religion is being eroded under President Obama and if he gets re-elected the national debt will be the least of our problems. I am convinced that in spite of what he states that he is no Christian. I’m not judging or condemning him; I’m just objectively looking at how he acts and his agenda.

I said in this very column over three years ago, before he got elected that I did not see how any Christian could in good conscience vote for this man. His views on abortion, homosexuality, prayer, Christmas, attending Reverend Wright’s Jew and white hating church for twenty years, and so many other issues must not be overlooked.

Scoff if you must; call me crazy, (I am a little crazy and I admit it); make fun of me as a fundamentalist; or whatever, but take a realistic and objective look at the way he acts and his agenda and see if you don’t agree.

Okay so you don’t think we should say stuff about someone else’s belief system? Then explain this series of verses please: “By their fruit you will recognize them. Do people pick grapes from thornbushes, or figs from thistles?

Still not convinced? Then read the one below and then do everything you can do to get him and people like him out of office.

Proverbs 20:11

“Even children are known by the way they act, whether their conduct is pure, and whether it is right. Ears that hear and eyes that see–the LORD has made them both”.
