Yesterday I wrote about being under satanic attack. What I didn’t have time to tell you was that I actually wrote that Words for the Day on Sunday, but decided to mail it out at its regular time on Monday. I copied it out of Word for Windows and pasted it into the software that I use to publish WFTD and put it in the queue for Monday. I don’t create WFTD in this system as unfortunately it has a terrible word processor that is full of bugs that comes with it, and this software’s only value is mailing out WFTD to the subscriber base and storing them in its database.
Early Monday morning I was preparing to send it out and as always I wanted to quickly read and edit it one last time. I decided to italicize a couple of phrases and as I feared the software malfunctioned, and long story short, it erased it and I could not recover it.
I was livid because I had spent nearly an hour and a half writing it, and to make matters worse I’d gone ahead and deleted the Word document that I used to originally create it. I was in a hurry yesterday morning because my sons, grandson, and I were all going deer hunting and leaving before daylight. I thought, obviously satan does not want me to send this out this morning, but I hurriedly rewrote it and mailed it out in time to go hunting anyway.
I barely had time to accomplish it, and to be honest, it was nowhere as good as the original; however when I got home from hunting I’d already received several e-mails from readers all over the country who’d benefited from it and I received more as the day progressed. It just went to show me that although satanic attack may slow us down and create additional work, it cannot stop the good that we set in motion, (provided we don’t get disgusted and quit, and are willing to continue the good fight).
To illustrate this further, yesterday afternoon my wife took the Christmas gifts that we purchased for a needy family to them. She called me in a panic from the home of our family and had accidently locked her keys in the car. This family lived 45 minutes away from our plantation and our only option was to drive over their and take my set of keys to unlock the car for her which is what one of my daughters in law did.
While she waited, my wife got to spend time with this family and the little children. It blessed her virtually to tears and the same for the children who cried and hugged her when she left. She spent quality time with them which would have otherwise been missed and as it turned out, mutual blessings were enjoyed all of the way around. Satan didn’t stop the fun, nor did he thwart the message that the love of Jesus abounds in spite of the hatred and evil that he spreads like manure all over this beautiful world.
I suppose my point is that sometimes things just go badly and it seems worse when you are trying to do some good. I agree that at times it’s VERY frustrating. We have the option of just “rolling with the punch” and laughing it off, or getting furious or depressed and giving up. I say keep going and don’t let it conquer you, for you never know what good might come out of the bad.
I want to leave you with a You Tube video created by my 16 year old grandson who decided upon a dare to record himself eating a Ghost Chili Pepper, (the hottest chili pepper known to mankind). This video went viral and although my grandson suffered terribly for eating the pepper, a television station picked up this hilariously funny video and is currently airing it. He got $500 from them for his permission to use the video, and now every time someone watches their Internet version and clicks on an advertisement he earns a half cent and he’s already made $1000. Sometimes when we go through the pain we don’t see the gain that eventually comes our way. Although the verse below does not particularly relate to him, you get the point I’m sure. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Gdtd5OeezK8
Romans 12:21
Don’t let evil conquer you, but conquer evil by doing good.
