Did you ever wonder why God designed us to live on this earth for such a short period of time? Can you imagine what it would be like if we lived forever trapped in sin?

Yikes!

I suppose there will be those who think I’m macabre for being glad that life is short, but I’m sorry folks, but the alternative just does not appeal to me. The next time we lament the loss of a loved one, it might prove helpful to consider this point.

There is an old adage, “No pain – No gain!” While dying is indeed very painful to all concerned; for the Christian it is a glorious transformation from a sinful diseased state to one of perfection and joy, free from pain forever, thus bearing testimony to the truth of there being gain after the pain.

For the non-Christian, however, the “pain remains” and it goes contrary to the relevance of the adage, because there will be plenty of “pain and no gain” in hell forever. I can understand why non-Christians fear death so much while any true Christian looks forward to their own death without dread.

The Bible compares this life to a vapor that is here only for a moment and then disappears. Eternity is not the same; it just keeps going and going and going. We all have a choice to make; we can either follow the world or follow Jesus Christ. Because of sin, either pathway that we choose to follow will at times be painful. As for me I want gain after enduring my pain. Jesus Christ went through excruciating pain on a rugged cross in order that we could do just that. I choose to follow Him and when I die I will realize my gain because of that effort.

I hope that everyone reading this will come to this same decision. If not, visualize spending eternity separated from God and His light and everything good. Do you want to be tormented, alone in darkness forever? Of course not and the good news is that we don’t have to. We can turn to Christ and live forever enjoying perfection.

Make the right decision today!

If you have already made the decision to go with Jesus that is excellent! Now, what about your family members, friends, and others? If you have truly accepted Christ as your Savior, you will have compassion for their plight and a passion to do all within your power to lead them to the Lord before your vapor disappears.

Do what you can to influence them to make the right decision to follow Christ and today is not too soon to get going.

Have a wonderful weekend and go to church this Sunday!

James 1:17

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
