I talk to so-o-o-o many people who are currently bummed out about everything one can imagine. The economy has run amuck; war in Libya; war in Syria; War in Iraq; war in Afghanistan; nuclear ambition in Iran; Pakistan punking us out to the Chinese; Palestinians sending rockets into Israel; Israel sending them back at the Palestinians; rioting in Europe; unions marching and mindlessly screaming through bullhorns; earthquakes in VA; politicians non-stop railing at each other; $14 trillion in debt; spending addict President Obama preparing yet another speech to ask for yet another trillion to squander; and the biggest horror of all horrors, Irene moving through mega media center of the world, New York New York. All angles have been covered right down to camera shots of each piece of tin that has blown down any street from North Carolina to Canada for days with no end in sight. Even my TV is sick of the coverage and quit working for a while today.

With all of the coverage about Irene there simply wasn’t time to cover other stuff, but if you want a dose here you go: the divorce rate is 51% – (41% for first – 60% for second); 83% of citizens disapprove of congress; 1 in 3 kids are don’t graduate from high school in this country; Housing prices abysmal; 1 in 200 people used an emergency homeless shelter in 2010; long term unemployment (6mo’s or more) is six million – highest since 1948; 18 million total unemployed counting those who have stopped looking; illegal drug use is up over 500% from ten years ago; there is at least one severe alcoholic in 43% of the families in the U.S.; every 18 minutes another life is lost to suicide – (11th leading cause of death of Americans); violent crime is rampant – 800,000 gang members in U.S., 15,747 drug related murders in Mexico last year – there will be more next year; Iraq war 4482 of our brave young men killed in combat – Afghanistan 1584 Total 6026; terrorism threats occur every day; tornados and flooding in the Midwest; mudslides, fires, dust storms; millions of kids starving to death in Somalia.

Sigh….

The world is a mess. Last Sunday at church a friend asked me if I ever worried, and I honestly answered, “Never!” I adhere to the following:

Rejoice in the lord always.
Again I say rejoice!
Be anxious for nothing, but in
everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your
requests be made known to God,
and the peace of God, which
surpasses all understanding, will
guard your hearts and minds
through Christ Jesus.

I have read the Bible right through the last verse and I know that the world is right on schedule moving towards the day that the antichrist will rise up and trigger the beginning of the end, but I won’t be around; I will be with the Lord ahead of the storm. All of the foregoing has been foretold and Jesus Christ told us not to worry, that these things must occur. He has promised to return for us and not a hair on our heads will be harmed. The Bible has promised All things work together for the good of those that love the Lord and are called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28

On and on throughout the Bible the Lord has told us not to worry; to put our complete trust and faith in Him. Just do it! If you are worried today, then shore up your faith. Believe the Bible! Anything less is questioning God’s ability to resolve your problems and/or His promise of loving you enough to die for you in order that you might have life and have it more abundantly. Keep the faith my friends. Don’t be a coward, but a brave soldier in God’s Army.

Yesterday my construction superintendent did not use deodorant, he spit stringy brown snuff on the floor, and expelled noxious gas in a confined room, and then sardonically laughed about it.

Sigh… You think you have it bad…

Endure your trials with smiles today and every day…

 2 Tim. 2:1
You therefore my son be
strong in the grace that is in
Christ Jesus
You therefore must endure
hardship as a good soldier of Jesus
Christ.
No one engaged in warfare
entangles himself with the affairs of
this life, that he may please him who
enlisted him as a soldier.
