Well today is yesterday and sure enough I was right not to worry about it because my test showed that I don’t have colon cancer or anything else. As I look at my bowl of jelly beans this morning it is demonstrably smaller than this time yesterday because several are crammed in my mouth. They go good with the coffee loaded with creamer that I’m washing them down with. Yes my ordeal with my colonoscopy is over and I’m smiling again.
I did not worry yesterday because I have faith in God and believe that whatever happens to me in life will be for the good. The Bible states as much, “All things work together for the good of those that love the Lord and are called according to his purpose”. Romans 8:28
My wife chastised me last night when she eavesdropped on my conversation and overheard me telling a man that he could achieve whatever he wanted in life if he was willing to work hard, be persistent, work smart, and do it through Christ. She told me that everyone wasn’t as smart as me and some just were never going to make it.
My wife and I rarely argue, but I let her have it. “Yeah I was real smart to be sticking a needle in my arm and guns in people’s faces. ARE YOU KIDDING ME”? “Look either you believe the Bible or you don’t” I wearily told her. Jesus said in Luke 17:6 “If you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘May you be uprooted and thrown into the sea,’ and it would obey you!” In Matthew 17:20 He said” Because you have so little faith. I tell you the truth, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you.”
In Philippians 4:13 it says, “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Either we have faith in God and believe it, or we put our faith in our intellect, good looks, shapely figure or whatever. I choose to put my faith in God and I maintain that anyone can succeed.
It is a matter of faith. Do you believe? Do you really believe? Could you do what Abraham did with Isaac? If you have deep faith and are willing to work hard and be patient perhaps for years or even a decade you can succeed. I stand by it…
Luke 7:13
When the Lord saw her, his heart went out to her and he said, “Don’t cry.”
