I had my CAT scan yesterday but they told me it would be three working days until I get the results back. Hurry up and wait. It will probably be Monday before I know anything and then they will probably want a biopsy which will not be taken until Wednesday or so, and then it will be Monday before I know the results of the biopsy, and then I will need to consult with a cancer specialist and then, and then, and then
Hmmm Seems like I’m getting just a wee bit ahead of myself. The Bible tells us in Matt 6:34: “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Okay I won’t worry about tomorrow.
Hmmm I wonder what trouble I will encounter today?
Arghhhh!
The point the Bible makes is that we should not worry. We should trust in God that things will be okay. Jesus said, “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?” The answer to this rhetorical question is “None among us can do it Lord”. 1 Peter 5:7 states: “Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you.”
How much does He care for us? God’s deep love for us is expounded upon in Isaiah 49:15 where God compares His love for us to a mother’s love for her baby and how His love for us exceeds even that. “Can a mother forget the baby at her breast and have no compassion on the child she has borne? Though she may forget, I will not forget you!”
I know God will not forget me. Like the song goes I am always on His mind and so are you. The Bible states that God said our days on this earth will be short and full of trouble. In order to survive much less thrive we must learn to put our complete faith and trust in Him. We can trust Him with all of our hearts and know that we know that all things turn out good to those who trust in the Lord, and yet we still can petition Him to extend His mercy upon us and throughout the Bible He has done just that. The Psalmist below offers up a prayer that I use often, because if anyone needs God’s mercy it would be me. Even though I claim this as MY verse, I don’t mind of you adopt it too. Selah
Psalm 77:9
Do not withhold your mercy from me, O LORD; may your love and your truth always protect me.
You can claim my verse too
