I was interviewing a candidate for the position of Chef for our new plantation resort restaurant the other day and the subject of employee theft came up. I told him that one of the primary selling points of my former company’s food service software was that it helped prevent employee theft, which according to our research indicated that 87% of food service industry employees have admitted to in the workplace at some point. He told me that figure was more like 99% according to his personal experience in the various places that he had worked and in the restaurant that he now owns.

Whatever the correct number is, it is a sad commentary on our modern society, is it not? We discussed the reason for it and both wondered if it was because everyone can use food and generally food service workers are at the lower end of the scale when it comes to compensation. Maybe they think they are entitled to the food, beverages, and money that they steal because they don’t make all that much of a salary???

Naw, I think it is just black sin and is indicative of our modern society’s steady decline and drift into the Last Days. I don’t care how someone tries to justify it, stealing is not only illegal, it is morally wrong and a dark sin that God specifically warns us not to engage in and is one of the Ten Commandments. In ancient times the leadership would cut off your hand if you were caught stealing. Today it has turned completely around. Many of the worst thieves can be found walking the halls of Congress and the Whitehouse and unfortunately ARE the leadership in our society.

Churches are not without their problems either. I received a letter the other day from a lady who stated that church was no longer relevant in today’s society. Like so many people she is thoroughly disgusted with the infighting and hypocrisy of some of the people in the churches that she has been attending, and she has now reached the point where she has decided to just quit going.

Not good

If we are to have any chance against the pervasive evil that is rampant in our world, our sick society needs to be filling the pews every Sunday or at a minimum meeting in small groups in someone’s home or office. One of the basic warnings of God to us is not to forsake the “gathering together of each other” as a mighty tool against satan.

Gathering together with other believers is a large part of putting on the full armor of God. Remember we are not engaged in a war with mere mortals like Al Qaeda, we are engaged in war with the most powerful fallen angels ever created by God. The Bible tells us that we are no match for their powerful evil alone, but that if we put on the “full armor of God”, we can do ALL things through Christ who will strengthen us. We must study the word of God, (the Bible), pray ceaselessly, and fellowship with other Christians.

Remember a three braided cord is much stronger than a single strand. Don’t try to stand alone as a single strand; you will break. If you can’t immediately find a church that is right for you, don’t be discouraged and give up. If nothing else, find some friends and start a Bible study group. It might take a while to find the perfect place that God wants you to be, but rest assured there is one that is ideal for you.

Hebrews 10:25
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.
