Is it easier to maintain unswerving faith in God if things are going really great or if they are going bad? How about really bad?
Hmmm This question was posed in the Bible when satan and God were discussing Job. Satan maintained that Job had been blessed so much that it was inconceivable that he would be any other way than faithful. He remarked to God that if those blessings were taken away, that he would turn from God. The Bible states that God allowed satan to take away all of his blessings but he could not allow him to take his life.
Satan took away Job’s family, friends, health and wealth and yet he maintained his faith in God the entire time proving satan wrong at which point he was rewarded with more blessings than he originally had been bestowed.
One of the questions that I most often receive concerns faith. I can honestly say that mine remains unswerving during the hard times and the good times. Personally I think it’s easier to maintain faith during the tragic times because I can only make it through those dark days through the comfort provided by the Holy spirit which is often referred to as the “Comforter”.
Good times seem to come with distractions. That is one reason wealthy people find it so hard to stay close to God. Temptations abound and it is difficult to remain focused on God as the number one priority.
Rich or poor, the Bible tells us that enhanced faith is derived from Bible study, prayer, fellowship with other Christians. If yours is waning, you might want to take a look at those programs in your life and shore them up. We all need to make time for God and make him our number one priority in life.
I believe we are currently living in the latter times described in the Bible. Don’t be one of those deceived by those preaching non-biblical doctrine and allow it to erode your faith.
1 Tim. 4:1
Now the Spirit expressly says that in latter times some will depart from the faith, giving heed to deceiving spirits and doctrines of demons.
Good and bad times faithful
