Today at approximately 2PM I will undergo surgery. I began experiencing terrible pains in the upper portion of my stomach area on Tuesday; the pain also covered my lower left chest area and raced all of the way across my lower back between my shoulder blades. The pain was so intense that I was nauseous, (and yeah I’m a big sissy), tears were streaming down my face.
At first I was in the ER but later moved to CCU. Since then I have consulted with four different doctors. At first they thought I was having a heart attack, and then a ruptured Aorta, one thought it might be an aneurism, another thought it might possibly be a pancreas attack or malfunctioning liver. I suggested that they consult with Dr. Gregory House, but they only gave me a cold look for suggesting the Hollywood diagnostician.
Finally they hooked me up intravenously to a morphine pump. A needle was inserted into the mega vein in my right arm and taped in place. A large bottle of morphine was placed in my right shirt pocket and now whenever I need a pain shot, I just push hard on a switch that is taped to my forearm and morphine is injected directly into my bloodstream. (It was never that easy to get a fix in Haight Ashbury I tell you.)
They ran some ultra sound tests yesterday and it revealed that I had several gallstones trying to make it through the bile duct of my gallbladder. I’m told that a couple of gallstones and some sludge are blocking the entrance of a bile duct. Instead of happily pumping bile into my intestines, it is backing bile up which causes the pain. They told me that it could kill me or at least make me wish I were dead after feeling the pain if the logjam was not promptly removed.
OK I’ll have it removed. I have received numerous letters and calls from people who are praying for me. Oddly when I was admitted to the hospital I was in excruciating pain, but after all of these people have started praying for me, the pain has completely gone away. My nurse attributes it to my not eating anything and not the intense prayer.
Hmmmm. I go with the prayer. I appreciate all of your prayers.
I go with the prayer
