I saw an interesting poll the other night that indicated that a huge majority of Americans believe that their children and grandchildren will have a lower quality of life than they have had.

I don’t know about you, but as for me I always wanted my kids and grandkids to have a far better life than I have had and in fact, that is the primary reason that I have worked so hard and so long in order that they would have an easier time of it than I had. That makes this poll all the more depressing.

Why all the pessimism and gloom about the future. Well unbeknownst to the politicians in Washington DC most Americans are not stupid and understand basic economic principles. We cannot spend more than we make in our personal lives, businesses, or government without bad things happening. And yet our illustrious leaders keep spending with reckless abandon. We know that eventually, like Greece, irresponsible fiscal policies will destroy our once great and proud country.

Economic problems aside, I believe the biggest problem facing the United States is that we as a nation are quickly moving away from God. I believe that we were blessed as no other nation in the history of mankind, (save Israel in Abraham through Moses day), because we initially feared God as a nation, founded our nation on godly principles and a majority of Americans worshipped Him.

That is changing and with it so are our moral values. Our nation is legitimizing homosexuality and same sex marriage, trying to legalize drugs, re-enabling the welfare mentality, allowing our children to do as they please, filling the airwaves with porn and violence, and our President has spurned Israel, told the world that we are not a Christian nation and embraced a Muslim world whose Koran identifies anyone who will not convert to their belief system an infidel and plainly states that they should be destroyed.

The Bible states that if we turn our backs on God He will do likewise to us. What we need in this country is to have a revival. God also teaches that if a nation will return to Him, then He will heal them. Remember the lessons from Deuteronomy and the Israelites.

This November take your voting privilege seriously. Look at the candidates that have the same values that you have and get rid of the leaders who are pushing our nation towards disaster. The leadership of a business, church, or government determines its ultimate destiny. We should choose Godly people for these positions. Most importantly as the head of our households we must lead our families towards biblical principles.

We as individuals might not be able to change our country for the better, but we can darn sure do so within our basic family unit. I believe that is where revival must begin anyway. At our house no one ever wondered on Sunday morning if we were going to church; of course we were going to church, it was Sunday morning. My kids were taught to respect their elders and when addressing one they said “yes sir” and “yes ma’am” and “no sir” and “no ma’am” not “yeah” and “no”. They were taught right from wrong and biblical principles. They were loved and they responded to it. To a son they all turned out well because of it.

The Bible teaches that if we will bring a child up in the teachings of the Lord, when he or she grows old they will not depart from it. The world is changing and as predicted the hearts of men are beginning to grow cold just as in the days of Noah. The world will continue down this path until God has enough and returns for His children. If you love your kids and grandkids and want them to have a better time with life then you did, then spend whatever time is necessary with them to ensure that they are children of God and Jesus Christ will take it from there.

In the meantime get out there and vote. I have not given up on this great country yet. There is still time to turn our nation back towards God and seek the “Great Physician’s healing ministry for our nation The lesson below given to the Jews still applies to us this very day in our personal lives and our nation. The Jews initially obeyed God’s commands and lived as a God fearing nation and as a result they did prosper more than any other nation in the world right up until they turned their backs on God and He destroyed their great society and scattered them like ashes from a long dead fire sending them into slavery and worse.

Deuteronomy 28:1-13
“Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the LORD your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the LORD your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the LORD your God:
“Blessed shall you be in the city, and blessed shall you be in the country.
“Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks.
“Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl.
“Blessed shall you be when you come in, and blessed shall you be when you go out.
“The LORD will cause your enemies who rise against you to be defeated before your face; they shall come out against you one way and flee before you seven ways.
“The LORD will command the blessing on you in your storehouses and in all to which you set your hand, and He will bless you in the land which the LORD your God is giving you.
“The LORD will establish you as a holy people to Himself, just as He has sworn to you, if you keep the commandments of the LORD your God and walk in His ways. Then all peoples of the earth shall see that you are called by the name of the LORD, and they shall be afraid of you. And the LORD will grant you plenty of goods, in the fruit of your body, in the increase of your livestock, and in the produce of your ground, in the land of which the LORD swore to your fathers to give you. The LORD will open to you His good treasure, the heavens, to give the rain to your land in its season, and to bless all the work of your hand. You shall lend to many nations, but you shall not borrow. And the LORD will make you the head and not the tail; you shall be above only, and not be beneath, if you heed the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you today, and are careful to observe them.
