It’s a beautiful morning

Turkey season opens Saturday and I went this morning to do some scouting. It was a cool crisp beautiful sunny morning and the gobblers were gobbling and the hens were clucking their admiration. The bright sun sparkled as it peeked over the forty year old pines and golden sage fields and it was fun to watch the woods come “alive”.

It was peaceful in the woods and I enjoyed my time in it this morning. As I sit writing this I am looking out the window of my home overlooking Honey Lake. The pristine 80 acre spring fed lake looks like a blue mirror except for a few ripples caused by an industrious duck swimming around looking for some breakfast. It defines serenity and makes one want to just sit and stare.

Contrast this morning with what I saw on the news last night. First it was the venom of the political debates and dirty politics, next I saw the carnage of 60 people being murdered over the weekend in Juarez Mexico by drug cartels, and then I saw that there was another car bomb in Iraq and for good measure one in Afghanistan too.

The Bible asks, “Why do the heathen rage?”

The answer is that they do not know Jesus Christ. People all over the world are struggling and trying to find peace in their lives, (maybe even some of you who are reading this piece this morning. If you need some rest and peace in your life why not do what I did to find it and look to the one who can give it to you. Jesus said that it is very easy to live this good life I wholeheartedly agree.

Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
