My wife and I have really been having a good time this week. Our three sons and their wives and our six grandchildren have been vacationing with us at our beloved Honey Lake Plantation. So far on the hunting front, the five men, (including thirteen year old Nick), have bagged four wild turkeys with one to go. We hope to bag the final turkey that we need for 100% success today.

We have done well fishing too. The grandkids have literally been squealing with delight as they catch fish after fish and it is a fulltime job to keep crickets and worms baited on their hooks to entice the hungry Florida Largemouth bass and bluegill that swarm under the dock.

Everyone has gone horseback riding including our youngest member, one year old Owen, (Obo). We have driven electric and gas powered four wheel drive carts all over the plantation observing wildlife and scenic landscapes and those with lots of energy have been pedaling the paddleboat around the lake. Our little dog Cooper has even been getting in on the act chasing kids and being chased by them until he is too exhausted to hold his head up at night.

Today we are going for a wagon ride to see 1000 acres of pristine land that we just added to the plantation and later a friend of mine is bringing over an airboat to give everyone a ride around the lake. This afternoon a photographer is coming over to shoot some family portraits and then we are going to barbeque some Boston butts on the smoker.

Do you believe in miracles?

Forty years ago I hitch-hiked into Atlanta homeless, penniless, on the run from the police, and addicted to drugs and alcohol. I was angry-bitter, without one friend, hopeless, forlorn and I hated God. Then one day God sought me out in a hospital room after a head-on collision that very nearly took my life. I learned to love Him and He taught me how to love others. Next He showed me the side of life that I had been missing without Him.

It was through God that I learned that life can be good; it can be very good indeed.

If you don’t believe in miracles then take a look at my life. It is true and it is real. I owe God all of the credit for my miraculous transformation. God changed my life and He can change yours. He can turn your loneliness into happiness and make you look forward to each brand new day just like He did for me; however you must do your part.

Ask for forgiveness for your sins and love Him with all your heart. If you really love Him you will follow His commands which you will find in the Bible and hear in church every Sunday morning and you will truly make Him a top priority in your life. I am one former non-believer that earnestly believes in the miracle of salvation and power of God through the blood of Jesus Christ. He is the number one priority in my life and no distraction will ever change that.

Well it is time to get into the woods. In a little while when the sun just barely begins to surface, the turkeys will be shattering the silence of the woods with loud gobbles and sending chills up my spine. I will be with one of my sons smiling like a goat eating briars as I watch him yelping on his turkey call like crazy trying to call him in.
