This morning I was thinking about computers and what they mean to the world. When I went to school computers had not been invented yet, in fact even the lowly pocket calculator had not been invented and we used a device called a slide rule as a calculator. We could slide the movable wooden scales back and forth and line up various numbers that we wanted to divide, multiply, or obtain the square root and then read the answer on another scale.
There was no e-mail, cell phones, fax machines, or text messaging. I remember when we got our first television. It was a black and white TV and there were only three channels. Things have changed substantially in the last fifty years. It has been interesting to say the least to see the entire world change so dramatically within my lifetime.
Currently I’m reading the book, “Epicenter” by Joel C. Rosenberg. He is a Messianic Jew, (a Jew that believes Jesus Christ is the Messiah and has accepted Him as his Savior), and is known for writing several books that actually came true, such as Jihad which was a fictional novel he wrote “before” 9/11 about some fanatical kamikaze Arabs that flew a plane into a building in New York and killed Americans . He also predicted the war with Iraq and Saddam and the death of Yassar Arafat prior to it happening.
He has been accused of everything from having inside information from the CIA to being a modern day Nostradamus. What he has is a Bible and he studies its prophecies. His books are simply fictional accounts of how the events of the “last days” as predicted in the Bible might play out and so far he has been very accurate with his predictions.
By the way he definitely thinks we are in the last days and the world is winding down and the day is nearing when Jesus will return for His children. One prediction that should not be overlooked is that the Bible teaches that as we near the end of time it will be an age of great learning. (Hmmm The computer age maybe?)
Some of his latest predictions concern Russia and Iran. He states that the Bible, (Ezekiel 38), clearly indicates that Russia will be ruled by a czar and form an alliance with Iran and eventually they will form a coalition and attack Israel, (Gog and Magog, Persia, Ethiopia, Asia, and Libya).
If we watch the news and have half a brain, we know that Iran’s fanatical leaders are threatening to wipe Israel from the map. Incidentally, according to Ezekiel, God will intervene and save Israel and the outcome will not be good for their ungodly alliance.
It is amazing that these predictions were written by Ezekial and other prophets nearly 600 years before Christ. We live in interesting times and watching the news is almost like reading the Old Testament.
What does all this mean to us? Time is running out. If you know someone who has not accepted the Lord as their Savior, witness to them and encourage them to go to church with you. Things are moving fast just as the Bible predicted.
Did you know that the Last Days are compared in the Bible to a woman having contractions and as we near the end the contractions get closer and closer together right up until it is time. More and more events are occurring right before our eyes and in fact most of the prophecies have already come true and the time is right for the Rapture.
While it should be emphasized that no one knows the exact time, we are told that we will recognize the times and we should prepare for it.
Do you think it will be today? Probably not, but then again that is exactly what is predicted by none other than Jesus Christ.
Matt. 24:38
For as in the days before the
flood, they were eating and drinking,
marrying and giving in marriage,
until the day that Noah entered the
ark,
and did not know until the flood
came and took them all away, so
also will be the coming of the Son of
Man be
Therefore you also be ready,
for the Son of Man is coming at an
hour you do not expect.
