Name that star

I am more fascinated every time that I read of the incredible intelligence of God. The Bible tells us that God not only knows how many stars there are in His creation he has named them all and knows them individually by name.

So just how many stars are there in the Universe? It is easy to ask this question, but difficult for scientists to give an answer. I went to the Internet and learned that stars are not scattered randomly throughout space, they are gathered together into vast groups known as galaxies. Our warm Sun belongs to a galaxy called the Milky Way. Astronomers estimate there are about 100 thousand million stars in the milky Way alone.

Outside that, there are millions upon millions of other galaxies also! For the Universe, the galaxies are our small representative volumes, and there are something like 10 to the 12th power of them in our galaxy alone, and there are perhaps something like 10 to the 12th power galaxies. With this “simple” calculation you get something like 10 to the 24th power quantity of stars in the Universe.

Do you want to know something truly fascinating? If you traveled at the speed of light it would take you 2 million years to arrive at the nearest star. Imagine the vast distances in the Universe. I wonder how many Universes there are that we cannot envision.

Amazing isn’t it? We serve a mighty God.

I have a hard time fathoming the magnitude of our national debt. I think it is currently at $11 trillion and now congress wants to raise the debt limit $2 trillion more so we can owe $13 trillion.

How much is a trillion? Hmmm Bigger than the Milky Way for sure? A trillion is a one followed by twelve zeros. Compare that to the above calculations for the number of stars for some fun. Ok, Ok, maybe that isn’t fun to you, let’s look at it in seconds then: A million seconds is 12 days; a billion seconds is 31 years. a trillion seconds is 31,688 years.

Want to know more? Probably not but I feel froggy this morning. If you spent $1 every second, you’d have to keep spending for 412,000 years to get to $13 trillion. Remember that this number is the level of actual debt that our country will owe to its creditors including Communist China this year. $13 trillion in one dollar bills weighs in at a porky 28 million pounds. (Even the South Beach Diet couldn’t tackle that kind of obesity).

If you laid 13 trillion one-dollar bills end to end they’d reach from the earth to the sun and back five times over. (That’s 946 million miles of cash.) Let’s see traveling at the speed of light at 186,000 miles per second Enough already, my head is spinning

I can’t stop. Wow I wonder how much interest we have to pay on the $11 trillion that we owe now. It’s a bargain at only $451.1 billion per year which amounts to $1478 dollars for every man, woman, and child in the United States and just think a lot of them don’t even work.

All I can say is help me Jesus, because this has surpassed this old boy’s brain.

Some folks have referred to President Obama as the “Messiah”. I wonder if he could name all of the dollar bills in the national debt. Somehow I do not think he understands the significance of these numbers much less could name all of those dollar bills he wants to spend.

I realize that several will unsubscribe because I dare to mention our illustrious leader’s name in vain, but I don’t really care. I don’t know about you, but I am sick of all of this spending. I have been an entrepreneur for forty years and know that no entity can sustain this amount of debt and survive including this formerly great country that we love.

He is leading the nation and should get a grip. These are big numbers and we just cannot keep spending like this and survive. Obama along with his allies, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid, and their respective majorities in the House and the Senate currently have the votes to keep spending and spending and spending and spending and spending. Will this nation ever wake up and say to these people enough already?

I’m tired now. I need some rest.It’s so -o-o-o hard to be patient, is it not?

Psalm 37:7
Rest in the Lord and wait
patiently for Him;
