Being “stuck” out here on Maui, 3000 miles in the middle of the Pacific Ocean with a six hour time differential makes watching the news a challenging proposition; therefore I have not done it. I was curious to know what was happening in the world however; and dialed into the Internet to scan the headlines.
I saw one headline that I just had to read because right there in bold print it stated “Presidential meeting offers hope”. We all need hope, right?
The article was about our president, the most powerful man in the world, having a beer in the rose garden at the White House with the black Harvard professor and the white police officer whom the president stated acted stupidly a few days earlier. It seems that arresting the professor for disorderly conduct merely because the professor was acting disorderly and calling the policeman a racist SOB among other things was a stupid thing to do and the president wanted to personally intervene and call a summit. Can you believe this dumb cop had the audacity to ask this revered professor to identify himself? He was just banging his shoulder against his door trying to get in the house in a neighborhood besieged by break-ins.
I got arrested one time for disorderly conduct and I believe our President at the time was JFK. Oddly he did not invite me over to the rose garden for a beer or publically scold those mean old policemen who arrested me and had the nerve to hit me on the head with a slap jack when I cursed them. After reading of this rose garden summit, I now have hope that if it ever happens again I will be treated better and may even have to get off the wagon for at least a day and sip some suds with the prez
Ok I guess I am getting a little facetious, but “crikey” what is next a pot party with the Israelis and the Palestinians in the Oval Office?
Next I read that Michael Jackson actually overdosed on drugs, (what a surprise!), and had been a drug addict for years and years and was obtaining drugs through numerous aliases. He was taking drugs that I have never even heard of and I thought I took them all in the 60’s. I was relieved to hear that the police are in hot pursuit of that mean old doctor who took advantage of poor little “Jacko” by writing all those prescriptions for him.
There I go being facetious again. Jeez when do people in this country begin to take some responsibility for their own actions though? If Jackson wanted to spend his hundreds of millions buying drugs, I have news for you, celebrity or no celebrity; he is the one responsible for his own death. The same goes for the hallowed Harvard professor; he should have been arrested. My experience with cops has taught me to respect them. They have a dangerous job and when they are investigating a reported break-in, a little cooperation goes a long way.
What is up with all of the special treatment? Just because someone is a Harvard professor or a talented musician does not mean that there will not be consequences for poor behavior. At least that is the way it should be.
Before you get all down and in a bad mood, just remember that pride goes before destruction and the haughty will be just like humpty dumpty one day and fall and be broken. There is hope and His name is Jesus Christ and He will triumph. He told all of us who labor and are heavy laden to come to Him and He will give us rest. He went on to state that we should learn from Him for He is gentle and lowly in heart and we will find rest for our souls through Him. His yoke is easy and His burden is light. Unlike our government and its arrogant prideful illustrious leadership trying to solve problems over a beer like civilized people, Jesus offers hope pure and simple through His blood that was shed for us all.
Proverbs 29:23
A man’s pride will bring him
low,
But the humble in spirit will
retain honor.
This Bud’s for you!
