Not long ago I visited the Holy Land and I was struck by how small it is. If memory serves me correctly Israel is only approximately nine miles wide and fifty miles long, and yet just as the Bible predicts this tiny microdot is the center of rage that daily threatens the stability of the entire world.

It seems that a thinking person who wants to believe, but might falter at times would have their faith bolstered by reading the Bible and then picking up a newspaper, especially as it relates to God’s chosen people, the Jews, and His chosen Holy Land, Israel.

The Bible clearly predicts that Iran will attack Israel. They will partner with Russia in so doing. An alliance will be formed against Israel which will include several countries including Asia, (communist China perhaps?), a European alliance, and assorted Arab states.

Folks, things are shaping up and moving in that direction every day of our lives.

The United States is not mentioned in the end times of the Bible and I assume that is because we will not be a factor in world play in the coming years. Perhaps Obama will continue on his determined quest to spend us to a point of oblivion where Communist China owns and dismantles our beloved country, or someone will bomb us to oblivion. Either way, most assuredly we will not be a factor in the end times.

We could always build a concrete bunker in our backyards to withstand the nuclear attack of Russia, North Korea, Iran, and other nations that hate the United States, primarily because we support Israel and secondarily because ours is a majority Christian nation that believes in freedom and justice. Or perhaps we could buy survivalist gear and prepare to defend our homes against all comers. Nope, that will not work.

The Bible tells us to prepare for that day like we would for a thief in the night, but we are not to use conventional means to do so. How do we prepare? We are to draw close to God.

By serving the Lord right up until the day that some country orders their military to simultaneously turn the keys and launch the nuclear holocaust, or Christ returns to remove us from the scene before that event. We are told not to worry about such matters and instead to concentrate on fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives. We should not love this life so much that we are not prepared to leave it *today*.

Christians should anxiously await the coming of Christ. How about you? Are you ready to leave today? Or do you, like Lot’s wife, love this world so much that you want to cling to it? Remember she was turned into a pillar of salt for such thinking.

We have been granted the unique privilege of reading about what is going to happen next in our world and our lives *before* it happens. We know the characters such as the antichrist, the avenging angels commanded by Jesus Christ, the army of Christ, the believers and the non-believers in the world, and Jesus Christ Himself. We know how this saga will unfold and importantly how it will end. If you have not read it for yourselves, I will go ahead and share with you that it ends extremely well for Christians and not well at all for non-Christians.

Some people watch movies over and over again and the same holds true with repeatedly reading a good book. Even though we know how it will end, we laugh and we cry as it unfolds. That is kind of how I feel when I read the Bible. If you are missing out on this, then pick up your Bible today. It is fascinating to see prophecy unfold in this age in which we live. It is like coming out of the darkness and into the light every day.

Eph. 5:8
For you once were in darkness, but
now you are light in the Lord. Walk
as children of light.
