Einstein once wrote: ” A happy man is too satisfied with the present to dwell too much on the future.” I do not think it odd that a brilliant man like Einstein did not put too much emphasis on the future. He realized that worry has zero effect on the future. I have too many friends and acquaintances who constantly worry about the future. This is silly to me, because in the first place we are not even guaranteed a future. At any moment we could keel over with a heart attack, aneurysm, stroke, get hit by a Mack truck crossing the sidewalk, or similar malady.

After hearing this you might be inclined to think, “Oh that is great
news, now you have really given me something to worry about?” There should never be anything to worry about, not even death, provided we have a solid relationship with God and realize that He will be with us through thick and thin.

I think one important part of what Einstein said is the part about being happy. Being happy can eliminate a whole lot of worry. It is hard to be happy if one constantly worries about everything under the sun.

Being happy about our present lives is directly proportional to how solid our walk with the Lord is. The Bible teaches that it is a sin to worry, also stating that we should have faith that God is in control of our lives and His perfect plan is unfolding according to His perfect schedule. We should sit on the sidelines and “enjoy the ride”.

Einstein also had this quote, “I never worry about the future. It comes soon enough”.

Matt. 6:34
Therefore do not worry about
tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry
about its own things. Sufficient for
the day is its own trouble.
