I count my blessings often. I first and foremost thank God for my salvation and then for finding my wife of nearly thirty eight years, and then for my children and grandchildren. I really appreciate God allowing me to watch my children grow from infants to adults. It was tremendous fun to watch them as babies who were totally dependent upon us for everything, move into early childhood and watch them learn to talk and crawl and then walk and ride bicycles; on into sports, hunting, fishing, water skiing, and their teenage years and then they discovered girls and went off to college. After college I was privileged beyond measure to get to work with them daily, literally for years and watch them grow into fine young Christian family men and reach a professional level of expertise as businessmen. I am truly blessed!

I am one of those lucky people who truly love retirement, but I must admit I miss my sons, daughter-in-laws and grandkids immeasurably. They are all busy with their own lives and at best now all I get is an occasional phone call, JPG photo e-mail of something or other, and the hurried visits once in a blue moon, bummer. It is without a doubt the worst thing about retirement.

Yesterday I got a few e-mails from those who did not like my e-mail about Obama. One person was “appalled” by it; another railed about abortion and referred to unborn babies as fetuses. Well I am “appalled” by abortion and an unborn baby is an unborn baby, and not a fetus. Today’s young people have the privilege of seeing their babies via ultrasound prior to birth; (one thing my wife and I missed out on due to our not having the advanced technology that is available today when she was pregnant). My youngest son gave us a CD of their baby boy, Owen, who currently resides in the womb and will make his debut in December. It is way cool to watch him yawn, suck his thumb, stretch, and roll over and I thought I even detected a smile on his beautiful little face. This is not a fetus. Fetus is the term that secular people use to make them feel better when they destroy a human life. Owen is his name and he is an unborn baby; God knows him and so does our family.

Regarding partial birth abortion, if the baby was brought out of the womb just a little further, then it would be capital murder for someone to kill it. Why is it not murder to just pull him out a little ways and then kill him Mr. Obama? It should not be anyone’s “choice” to kill a baby, born or unborn. If the mother would die without an abortion, I would agree that it would be necessary and warranted, but otherwise it is not our call. Feminists and liberal thinkers can be appalled until hell freezes over, but it does not change anything. Abortion is wrong, wrong, wrong! It is a sin and if you have had one it is like any other sin and can be forgiven through the blood of Jesus Christ, but as with any sin, forgiven or not, there will still be a consequence in this lifetime, not the least of which will be a guilty conscience for years and decades.

The Bible does not contain the word fetus. It does state that Jesus knew us while we were still in the womb and that John the Baptist leapt for joy in the womb of his mother when Mary walked into the same room while pregnant with Jesus Christ. I cannot believe that anyone could read the Bible and come away convinced that it should be any woman’s choice to kill an unborn baby. The Bible tells us it is a sin to kill and abortion is a sin and in my mind a grievous one. Society punishes those among us who kill, except after Roe vs. Wade our nation, to its shame, made it legal to kill unborn children. Shame on this country for doing so! I cringe thinking about the verse in the Bible that states that God is angry all day long with those who do evil, and I hope and pray that He does not take His anger out on this nation for the genocide that is being conducted in the name of “choice”.

One thing that I like about God is that the Bible assures us that He never changes. He is the same today as He was one thousand years ago and will remain so for the next thousand years and beyond that throughout eternity. Politicians like Obama, (and McCain for that matter), listen to the polls and formulate their moral compass as they move along. They change like the wind, often on a weekly basis as we have seen through this long campaign. God’s laws are forever and they do not change because they are perfect and need no change. For example God considers homosexuality an abomination and he plainly states that in the Bible. There is nothing “gay” about it Mr. Obama. Society should not condone it just because some folks, (particularly all of society’s heroes from Hollywood), “choose” to engage in it and shout from the rooftops that it is a lifestyle choice and perfectly all right.

Don’t get mad at me about calling it what it is, read the account of Sodom and Gomorrah for yourself in God’s holy word the Bible and then take your complaints directly to God. Look, either the Bible is the holy and inspired word of God or not. Either you believe it or not. Throughout the recorded history of mankind we have deviated from God’s laws and followed our own fleshly desires and there has always been serious consequence. People wonder why we have death, sickness, murder, rape, thieves, liars, and so on and the answer is that we defy God’s laws and follow our own fleshly desires. Society says it is all right and God says it is sin and will have to be punished.

If you are appalled by this e-mail this morning I will pray for you I suppose the subscriber list will go down again, but I have a news flash for you; I can live with that

Psalms 53:1
The fool has said in his heart,
There is no God. Corrupt are
they, and have done abominable
iniquity; there is none that does
good.
