I have been thinking that the economic crisis that is currently tormenting the world has deeper and more significant implications than just to the pocketbooks of the people of the world and is indeed a major step forward in taking us one step closer to the end times; surely we are living in the “Last Days”. The Bible is clear that the antichrist will rule a one world government. This cannot logically occur until the world adopts a singular currency and a global banking system. Europe recently consolidated the currencies of several of their member countries and they now utilize the Euro instead of their separate currencies. With the dollar tanking and taking other currencies with it, it is not inconceivable that the same thing could happen throughout the world.

With economies around the world panicking, worldwide summits are being called to discuss methods of bringing stability to banking systems on a global scale; the first of these is scheduled in the next couple of months. Stock markets around the world yesterday experienced dramatic falls and countries are scrambling and co-operating with each other on an unprecedented scale to make more cash available to banks worldwide. Logically this could be the first step towards setting the stage for a one world banking system.

Every day it becomes easier to envision a one world economy, a one world government, and frankly a world in which the United States has a diminished capacity or no capacity. The Bible is silent concerning a role for the United States in the end times. According to biblical prophecies, Russia, the Middle Eastern countries, Europe, and Asia all play a significant role in the final days and will form an alliance against Israel, but the United States is not mentioned. Americans have been arrogant as the lone super power, but now China, the “sleeping giant”, has emerged and soon will overtake the United States as the leading economic power, (if it hasn’t already done so). The Euro is worth two and a half times what the dollar is worth and we are so dependent on foreign oil that tiny countries in the Middle East are sucking in billions of dollars each month and holding us hostage to our own dependence upon them. Like it or not we are declining in significance each day with a corrupt political system comprised of greedy self serving government leaders with little concern for anything beyond being elected and lining their pockets and stroking their egos.

I believe the United States has been blessed as none before it, because we founded our nation as “one nation under God”. Additionally we as a nation have supported Israel when no other country would do so. Unfortunately our nation has become more secular in nature and turned its back on God. More of our citizens are doing so daily, especially government leaders, media, school teachers and professors, and Hollywood. Generally whenever a nation turned its back on God anywhere in the Bible, God turned His back on the nation, and I believe He will do likewise with the United States unless there is revival. Unfortunately anti-Semitism is already increasing in our country as is our Muslim population which despises Israel. If it comes down to a vote for many in our nation, the United States just may turn its back on Israel, especially if it means that we receive no oil unless we do. That will not be good for our country.

Most everything else that biblical prophets and Jesus Himself foretold will occur, (prior to the Rapture), has either already occurred, or is occurring daily. In 1947 the Jews returned to the Holy Land after being scattered all over the world for 2000 years; Israel is currently “surrounded by enemies”; there are widespread “wars and rumors of wars”; we are in an “age of great learning and travel is greatly enhanced”; there is great pestilence, (AIDS) and famine in the world; unusual weather phenomenon is occurring with wicked hurricanes scouring the world and devastating earthquakes; the hearts of many have grown cold and the world has grown more wicked and there are “unnatural affections” whereby men burn with lust for other men and the same with women; fundamentalist Jews are already preparing the garments for the priests and all of the utensils for use in the new temple that will be re-built in Jerusalem where the Dome of the Rock currently resides. The antichrist will sit on a throne in that temple and rule the world during the Great Tribulation and people all over the world will worship him.

Heavy reading this A.M. huh? Jesus reassured us that all will be well for the souls of those who trust in Him. Aren’t you glad that there is stability in the universe in Him? He has assured us that nothing can ever take His children from Him. We will join Him in the Rapture and live with Him forever in paradise.

Do you dread the end times? Remember Lot’s wife when she was told not to look back at Sodom and Gomorrah as it was being destroyed by God’s angels. God turned her into a pillar of salt when she disobeyed Him and looked back longingly upon those cities of abominable sin. Don’t love this life too much. We should all look towards that day of redemption with eager anticipation.

We should “get our bags packed” and be ready at a moments notice. Jesus said that day would come as a “thief in the night” and that people will be marrying and partying just like they did in the days of Noah right up to the day the ark door was closed and the rains and destruction came. Come on in out of the rain and accept Jesus today time is a’wasting!

Matt. 24:42
Therefore stay awake! For
you do not know on which day your Lord will
come.
Be sure of this: if the master of the
house had known the hour of the night when the
thief was coming, he would have stayed awake
and not let his house be broken into.
So too you also must be prepared, for an hour you
do not expect, the Son of Man will come.
