A reader sent me an e-mail regarding me and Words for the Day. It stated, “Considering your style, I like to call you the Neil Boortz of the daily devotionals”. I have heard that Boortz is a radio talk show host; however have never listened to his radio show. I rarely listen to the radio and most of it reminds me of the silly, nonsensical, boorish, gibberish, and meaningless drivel droned out daily on television. I try not to watch television and prefer not to listen to the radio at all, and instead I like to actually “think” when I drive. Since this reader compared me to him, I was however curious as to what kind of person Neal Boortz is like, so I asked a “friend” of mine, (who is the radio listening type), via e-mail what Boortz is like. He responded “Very very direct – x candid-a lawyer”. I responded, “A lawyer, I ought to beat the heck out of that reader for that”. He responded, “He is obnoxious 75% of the time”. Ouch!

Ok I suppose I am (gulp), occasionally obnoxious and should work on that; however I do not apologize for being very, very direct or x-candid. (And I ain’t no lawyer Grrrrr). I have read the Bible cover to cover so many times that I honestly cannot remember how many times and have come away from it with the deep understanding that God is very, very direct and x-candid about certain things himself and He lets the chips fall where they may with not even a whit of concern for the elitist media of this age, or being politically correct. A few nuggets that the Bible makes exceedingly clear are listed below.

CAUTION THIS LIST CONTAINS MATERIAL THAT COULD UPSET THOSE WHO WANT ME TO PUSSYFOOT AROUND THESE ISSUES.

If you do not accept Jesus Christ as your Savior you will spend eternity suffering in Hell, described by none other than Jesus Chist as a place of unending fire, brimstone, agony, darkness, separation from God, and where there will be “gnashing of the teeth”.

Homosexuality is an abomination to God and is sinful

Marriage should be between a man and woman and divorce is a sin

There is no such thing as an “affair”, it is adultery and a sin

Excessive drinking is a sin and will lead to bad consequences

Life begins in the womb and abortion is murder

Abstinence is the methodology that unwed people should use for birth control; not condom distribution

Spanking and not timeouts are necessary in child rearing – Spare the rod and spoil the child

All things were created by God and for His good pleasure. That includes us. We were expressly created for God’s purpose and not our own and are subject to His laws regardless of what Hollywood thinks.

All of us are sinners and even one sin is sufficient to convict us and sentence us to Hell forever unless those sins are covered with the blood of Christ.

One day should be set aside to worship God each week

A nation that acknowledges God for who He is will be blessed; those who do not will not be blessed.

We should tithe ten per cent of our income to the church of our choice and beyond that should give offerings to the Lord

Satan and sin and not God are responsible for all death, suffering, trials and tribulations.

We all have a free will and must decide for ourselves concerning our relationship with Jesus Christ.

We are “all” called to be witnesses for Christ and not just a few pastors

The Bible was written in order for us to know how to know joy, peace, and happiness both in this life and forever and is not just a book of rules outlawing everything that is fun.

We must do our best to observe God’s laws and ask for forgiveness when we miss the mark.

The closer we can come to living the life ordained in the Bible the happier we will be in this life.

God experienced the heartbreak of watching His child suffer and die and yet allowed it to happen because He loves us more than we can imagine.

I could go on but I must sign off now. Have a great day and enjoy God’s blessings today, and while you are at it, tell someone how much Jesus Christ means to you today!

Psalm 8:9
O Lord, our Lord,
How excellent is Your name in
all the earth.
