Do not be afraid

Several years back one of our employees was on a plane on which an engine caught on fire as they were landing. Emergency crews met the plane. Luckily all turned out fine and no one was injured. Young people rarely think about death and most have a feeling of invincibility until something like this happens. This was the first time that this young person had ever really faced the possibility of their own death. It would be an understatement to say that it was an extremely emotional experience for them. Having had numerous experiences where I looked my impending death in the “eye”, I know how this person felt.

Jesus’ apostles experienced a similar experience when they were in their boat and a fierce storm descended upon them. They were terrified and cried out for help and Jesus answered as He appeared walking on the water to the boat.

I am convinced that this was put in the Bible to reassure us when faced with such a situation. It is enough for me. Jesus answered as follows:
