A friend of mine has recently committed to reading the Bible all of the way through and he commented on how easy it is to understand. Hmmm I asked him to start in Romans and then move to Matthew and read the New Testament first and then the Old Testament. I can tell that he has not gotten very far, because parts of the Bible are very difficult to understand, especially some of the prophetic stuff including Revelations. Nonetheless most of it is very easy to understand and that is no accident.

The Bible states that it is living. I believe that with all of my heart. I have been down and out, or really struggling with a big decision, and when I go to my Bible for comfort or guidance, I often mysteriously turn to the exact page that contains the message that I need to hear. Indeed the very hair on my neck stands on end and I thank the Lord for His unseen presence and guidance. I think this is as close as it gets to God actually conversing to us on this earth. It is almost a daily occurrence when I write Words for the Day.

I love to read the Bible and although I have read it through too many times to remember, I never tire of it. I told my friend that one cool thing about the Bible is that even though he might read a passage and obtain some understanding; the next time he reads it he will get even more out of it and perhaps an entirely different perspective. This is because God opens up more to our hearts and minds and allows us a deeper understanding as we progress in our Christian lives. We do not need another text book as we did when we worked our way through K-12, the Bible is sufficient for all of our needs through the PHD level.

The Bible tells us that our days on this earth are going to be short and difficult; however there is a way to get the most out of life. I believe the Bible is God’s owner’s manual. In the Bible He tells us how to maintain ourselves in the best possible way in order to get the best results. The closer we can come to following God’s commands and advice as given to us in the Bible, the happier and more peaceful life we will enjoy on this earth. In order to receive the benefits, one must open their Bible daily and study. Get yours out, dust it off if necessary, and get to reading. God almighty is directing you to success with each page

1 Peter 1:24
All flesh is as grass
And all the glory of man as
the flower of grass.
The grass withers, and its flower falls away,
But the word of the Lord
endures forever.
