It seems as though I am working on a million different projects simultaneously. I awoke at 1 AM this morning and did not go back to sleep. As I was lying in my bed thinking of all that I have to do today, terra bits of information raced through my mind faster than my brain could process it. I feel tense as though I am going to miss some important detail and mess up a project here or there.
Finally I just got up and came on in to work. When I came into my office this morning, my Bible was open and I noticed something that I had written in the border a while back. It simply said, “Peace of God Inner calmness”. Hmmm I cannot say that I am experiencing that right now. Actually an employee was in my office and saw this same annotation in my Bible just yesterday, and she asked if I had deliberately opened my Bible to it for her to see. (She had an accident first thing in the morning as she drove to work. Her day did not improve as it progressed and she was stewing about it and had been in a foul mood.) I mentioned that, no I had not opened my Bible to that place for any purpose, but perhaps she should take a moment and read it.
Now this morning I find myself reading it. Personally I hate to be in an agitated state. I have known the peace of God and there is no feeling like it. When we are in perfect synch with God His calmness covers us like a warm blanket on a cold night.
So this morning I am perusing through my Bible looking up passages that deal with the peace of God and inner calmness and I will be taking them to heart this morning and hopefully all of the way through the day today. If you are kind of nervous this morning or lack peace, perhaps you could join me.
John 14:27
Peace I leave with you. My
peace I give to you, not as the world
gives do I give to you. Let not your
heart be troubled, neither let it be
afraid.
Peace and calm
