One of the cool things about the Bible is that it was written in ancient times; however it still reads as if it were written today. One passage that illustrates this is the Bible’s description of the coming of the “Day of the Lord”. This will be the destruction of the earth and the heavens, which according to the Bible could come at any time now. The Bible describes the destruction clearly as a nuclear explosion and meltdown. In ancient times it would have been impossible, (without God’s help), to envision this event; today we can readily imagine it. We have seen the awesome power associated with nuclear weapons. Between Russia and the United States there are enough nuclear armaments to destroy much of the world as we know it; however all of the nuclear might of ALL of the nuclear powers in the world pales to insignificance when compared to the nuclear power in one solar flare-up of a single star such as our sun. God will harness unimaginable energy and destroy everything that we know with a fervent heat.

In the beginning the Lord unleashed His awesome power to create the heavens and the earth. Modern day scientists call it the “Big Bang”
theory. I imagine that there undoubtedly was a loud big bang when it occurred and hurled all of those stars into space. The Bible states that the heavens and earth will end with a big bang too. (Perhaps scientists could name this Big Bang 2…Get it? “big bang too”..) I have heard that some want to go out with a bang. Hang around too long and you might get your wish.

I want to go out during the Rapture. Christ will return for His children and we will all rise to meet Him in the sky prior to Big Bang 2. Those left behind will face the meltdown after the 1000 year period where Christ will rule the earth. God’s raptured children will go on to the next heaven and earth that is filled with righteousness and was especially prepared for us by our loving Father.
Don’t miss the rapture, Jesus is tenderly calling, not wanting a single person to perish. You have to take the first step. Why not take it today and then make it official by publicly making a stand and following in Baptism at the church of your choice this weekend?

2 Peter 3:10
But the day of the Lord will
come as a thief in the night, in which
the heavens will pass away with a
great noise, and the elements will
melt with fervent heat; both the
earth and the works that are in it will
be burned up.
Therefore, since all these things
will be dissolved, what manner of
persons ought you to be in holy
conduct and godliness,
looking for and hastening the
coming of the day of God, because
of which the heavens will be
dissolved, being on fire, and the
elements will melt with fervent
heat?
Nevertheless we, according to
His promise, look for new heavens
and a new earth in which righteousness
dwells.
