An agnostic friend of mine likes to attack Christmas as being derived from some pagan holiday several hundred years ago. Although I have never seen his documentation which is probably thorough and for all I know in his zeal to prove the world wrong, he has researched it all of the way back to Josephus. I would probably concede that perhaps the date that Christians celebrate for the birth of Christ could be inaccurate. My comment would be, “So what?”

The important point to me is that billions of people all over the world in today’s modern society celebrate the birth of Christ on this designated day; we all know He was born and this is the day the present day world has elected to celebrate his birth. I have similar feelings about going to church on Sunday rather than Saturday which seems to bother this guy too and can get him started on a monologue for hours quoting research to confirm his viewpoint that the Sabbath is actually on Saturday. In my world Sunday is the day that I, (along with billions of other Christians), choose to rest and worship the Lord.

To tell the truth I do not think that God is real upset if after 2000 some odd years we got the dates or days mixed up. My suspicion is that he cares more about our love for Him and caring enough to worship Him wherever and whenever we can. I have never seen in the Bible where it states that the birth of Christ should be celebrated on December 24th. In fact we are not as Christians “commanded” to celebrate the birth of Christ to my knowledge; it is a special date to us because we love Him and we want to honor Him and thank Him for having mercy and grace towards us for humbling Himself to come to earth from His heavenly throne to be born in a manger to save the world.

I am sickened by the all out effort of many to take Christ out of Christmas. Jews and others who do not accept Jesus as the Messiah began this by calling Christmas “Xmas”; they want to X Christ out of Christmas. Merry Christmas was and is being replaced with Happy Holidays. Nativity scenes are banned and on and on. The same holds true for Easter, the time we celebrate Christ’s resurrection. It is more known these days, (especially to our vulnerable kids), as the time of the Easter bunny.

We should realize that Christ “died” for our sins and stand up and be counted as a Christian at every opportunity. I do not want to be non-inclusive, but I tell you when it comes to Christ I will stand up for Him and that is all there is to it. Non-Christian religions that many liberals fear to offend stand up boldly for their beliefs and they could care less who likes it. Orthodox Jews wear black hats, beards, and mini-dreads. Muslims wear beards and head coverings and the women wrap themselves from head to toe in ghostly looking sheet-like garments. Sikhs from India wear turbans and Hindus paint a red dot on their forehead. Even modern day witches wear tattoos on their foreheads. None of these people have the slightest qualm about standing up and being counted for their beliefs whether anyone likes it or not; so the question is why do Christians?

I believe it is because our country is overrun with spineless liberals who do not have as much backbone as an earthworm and are so afraid that they will offend someone that they will wet their pants at the first sign of trouble. They do not want to dare offend anyone, (that is except for the silent “majority” of those who trust in God whom they view with utter contempt). Unfortunately they will probably win the election next year and who knows where we will end up.

This Christian sings out Merry Christmas and I do not feel uncomfortable about it. I look those “Happy Holiday” people dead in the eye and loudly proclaim MERRY CHRISTMAS! and trust me they know where I stand on this issue.

Christ was openly crucified on your and my behalf and He stood up to be counted. The least we can do for Him is to do likewise. I am not ashamed of His name which is the reason for the celebration in the first place. It is not about Santa or presents folks; it is about Christ and His love for us. Remember the lesson that Peter learned as he denied the Lord. Imagine how that made him feel as he lived out his life knowing that he would not stand up and be counted when it mattered. Don’t follow his example. Either get a diaper and some rubber pants or stand up and boldly be counted

Luke 22:34
Then he said, “I tell you Peter,
the rooster shall not crow this day
before you will deny three times that
you know Me”.
