I have decided that I need to take a sabbatical from writing Words for the Day. I have been writing it for seven years now and I feel the time has arrived to give it a rest. I have always felt the Lord has led me to write this devotional, but lately I do not feel that He has been with me as closely as in times past. Additionally judging from the response that I receive now, as compared to times past, I am not sure that it is beneficial to anyone anymore which is its intent and purpose. To me this is an indication that I am not in synch with God and if not, His blessings cannot be given. Maybe a sabbatical will “sharpen my sword” and eventually enable me to serve the Lord again in a fresh manner.

The Bible teaches that not many should become teachers, “knowing that teachers will receive a stricter judgment”, it goes on to say, “For we all stumble”. This verse haunts me as I stumble a lot! The last thing I would want to do is cause someone else to stumble because I stumbled. I think maybe that even though I have come a long way from where I started as a born again Christian, I am still far too “rough” to serve the Lord in this capacity.

At any rate I have enjoyed our daily devotional time together and I encourage you to continue with daily Bible study on your own. I love the Lord with all of my heart and the Holy Bible is His unerring word and we should study it as a top priority and then try to apply it to our daily lives that often are so full of problems and trouble. If you are interested, there are hundreds if not thousands of WFTD on the website dating back to 2000. I hope you will visit it in the near future.

James 3:17
But the wisdom that is from
above is first pure, then peaceable,
gentle, willing to yield, full of mercy
and good fruits, without partiality
and without hypocrisy.
Now the fruit of righteousness
is sown in peace by those who make
peace.
