One of my goals for next year is to edit all of the WFTD that I have written and assemble the best of them into a book. The book will be 365 pages and there will be one WFTD for each day; kind of like a daily devotional. I started writing WFTD approximately seven years ago and it is a big task to go through and edit them all. I have far more WFTD stored on the website than the 365 that I need for the book and now I must go through all of them, edit them, and decide which ones to put in the book and not. Simultaneously I am writing a book on business and since my approach to business is Christian based, many previous WFTD are appropriate for inclusion in that book too, so I am separating those at the same time as well.

I have been dreading this project because of the enormous amount of time it is going to take. I was whining about it to my friend and he told me something I have told him on numerous occasions when he was faced with huge projects, “You should just do what you always tell me”, he sneered; “It is just like eating an elephant, you do it one bite at a time and eventually it will be completed”. I sarcastically replied that I was not particularly enamored with eating an elephant, and even if I was inclined to try it I would not want it every day; even my favorite meal, hamburgers and chili, would get old if I consumed it every day He was not sympathetic and in fact jeered and sneered some more until I got off the phone with him. Sigh

Currently I am working on 168 different projects, (another goal for 2007 is to reduce, not increase, that number of projects). I do not need more work to do. You might be wondering why I would even be willing to undertake such a labor intensive venture???

I am not doing it for money. In fact it is costing me money as I am publishing the book myself and distributing it not for profit. I’m doing it because I love the Lord. I receive letters pretty much daily from folks who read WFTD telling me they benefit from reading it. I know for a fact that many of the readers never otherwise read the Bible and/or go to church, and this little daily devotional is all the exposure that they receive to God’s holy word. Others just need encouragement on occasion and some days a particular WFTD that happened to be written that particular day is just what the doctor ordered to help them get back on track. Personally I know the Lord wants me to do this, I can feel it. I am going to make’ the time to do it in spite of whatever hardship or inconvenience that it might cause and I hope and pray that it will further God’s kingdom somehow.

I encourage you to do something too. What project are you going to take on for serving the Lord next year? Will it take a substantial commitment of time on your part? Think about the commitment Jesus Christ made for you. Surely you can devote some time to Him. At the very least start out the New Year right Go to church this Sunday and rededicate your life to the Lord. And then tell someone else about what great things the Lord has accomplished in your life

Luke 12:8
Also I say to you, whosoever confesses
Me before men, him the Son
of Man also will confess before the
angels of God.
