I received an e-mail from someone who was quite concerned that I sprayed water from a puddle on a cyclist with my car. I was asked to remove all Christian themed stickers from my car in order that I would not incriminate’ all Christians with my un-Christian behavior. Well all Christians can rest tonight because I do not have any Christian themed stickers on my car. This gentleman went on to say that perhaps this cyclist was having problems in his life and prayed that morning that he have a nice bike ride and I went and ruined it for him with my insensitivity. This in turn might cause him to go out and do something insensitive to someone else.
This gentleman told me he was saddened’ by my behavior, but as we all know there can be a silver lining in every cloud. I replied that he should lighten up because who knows I might have even saved this guy’s life. If someone decides to go for a bike ride in the streets of downtown Atlanta in rush hour traffic during a severe downpour of rain and ride down the middle of the road blocking traffic, someone more un-Christian than me might run him down. My dousing of him with water would not be nearly as bad as broken bones or even possibly loss of life. Hopefully he has learned from this experience and will choose a more suitable place to ride such as a park or less congested street whereby he can reflect on his problems and life and in so doing live a long life of contentment and peace. If I look at it in that light, in reality I just could be doing unto others as I would have them do unto me as this guy lovingly suggested.
Now at the end of every WFTD I always find a Bible verse with which I end the day’s devotional. I believe that God inspires me in this as I generally always turn right to the passage that is appropriate without delay. I have learned through the years not to be annoyed by things that I consider to be annoyable, but I cannot resist responding. I guess the Lord told me this morning what He thinks of me in this regard
Proverbs 12;16
A fool shows his annoyance at once,
But a prudent man overlooks
Silver Lining
