Lebanon-Israel – Read all about it!

My wife asked me to comment on the current conflict in the Middle East in Biblical terms. What is happening is exactly what has been forecast. We are positioned whereby the Lord could come for His children at most any time. Jesus told us to look for the signs and He enumerated them. The most important event would be the Jews returning to the holy land, (Israel). As you might recall soon after the crucifixion of Christ the temple was destroyed and the Jewish nation who had rejected the Messiah and crucified Him were defeated and carried away as slaves into captivity and scattered, (as predicted), over the four corners of the earth.

The Bible states that one of the signs of the end of the times will be when the Jews return to the Holy Land. Some 2000 years after they were led away into captivity, the Jews returned to the Holy Land. In 1947 they put together an impromptu army and incredibly in a matter of ‘6 days’ conquered the Arabs and drove them out of the holy land that was promised to the Jewish people 5000 years before. They miraculously defeated established armies in the process including mighty Egypt and the Jewish nation once again occupied Israel, thus fulfilling the prophecy.

The current conflict has to do with another prediction from Jesus that there would be wars and rumors of wars. Jesus said we should not be troubled by this as it must come to pass. The Arabs want the land back and believe it belongs to them. The Jews will not let that occur. The Bible predicts that many nations in addition to the Arab nations will turn against Israel and the Jews including Russia, Asia and Europe. We are seeing signs of this now.

The Bible tells us that no one knows when God will return, but according to the signs given in the Bible He could come at any time. A day is like a thousand years to the Lord and He may delay or He could return for His children today. All Christians will be taken out of the world and it will begin a period known as the great tribulation’ which will culminate with a tremendous war called Armageddon. Eventually Jesus will return to Jerusalem and put an end to it before the entire world is destroyed and personally rule the world for one thousand years of peace.

The last remaining thing to be done as far as fulfillment of prophecy is concerned is for the temple to be rebuilt by the Jews in Jerusalem. The obstacle is that the Arabs already have a mosque built on the exact site and it is the third most holy site for the Muslims, (Dome of the Rock). Eventually that mosque situated in Jerusalem will be destroyed and the Jewish temple will be rebuilt on that site. The anti-Christ will one day sit on a throne in that temple and declare himself to be the Messiah and people will briefly worship him which will be the beginning of the end.

That is a hundred thousand foot overview of what is to come. Suffice it to say that the Jews and Arabs will continue to fight for the holy land. The Bible states that it will be like a woman giving birth in that when labor begins the labor pains begin far apart and then become closer together and closer and closer right up until the baby is born. We are told that the signs given in the Bible will be similar. When we see signs we are told that they will likewise intensify and more and more things will happen. We are told that great disasters will occur like earthquakes. We are told that pestilence will occur. Some think AIDS is a sign of this. The Bible predicts the world will become more evil and that nations will turn from God. “Lawlessness will abound and the love of many will grow cold”. And this gospel will be preached in all the world as a witness to all nations and then the end shall come. You can read about this yourself in Matthew chapter 24 for a starter.

You ought to do yourself a big favor and look at Israel on a globe. It is so tiny that it is difficult to even see, (especially when you are my age). Why is the entire world focused on Israel? What is the big deal? It is God’s holy place and it should be a tremendous boost to every-one’s faith to see prophecy being fulfilled right before your eyes every night on television. The entire world is focused on God’s tiny little holy land Israel and His chosen people the Jews. Soon they will see His mighty hand take control with many miracles as he has done throughout history as we know it

If you are not prepared for the return of Christ, and all of this is terrifying to you, relax, it is easy to avoid the chaos and horror that is to come. Simply ask Jesus to come into your life today. Repent or turn away from your former lifestyle and sin and follow Christ. Ask Him to forgive you and he will do so. Believe that Jesus is the living Son of God who died for your sins and was resurrected three days later. Believe also that very soon now He will return to take us out of this sin filled world to paradise. It should be easy to believe in God in these last days.
