It would be an eye-opener for people to know what goes on behind the scenes. One of my former businesses was conducting sportsmen shows. I put one of these shows on in the World Congress Center in Atlanta GA. This show had everything from duck calling contests, turkey calling contests, big whitetail contests, big fish contests, taxidermy competition, decoy carving, boats, camping equipment, sporting goods equipment of every kind, seminars of every description teaching people to hunt and fish. We even had country singer Mel Tillis performing the last two nights of the show. It was semi-controlled chaos as over a hundred thousand people eagerly filed in to see the show on opening day.
It was my job to see that everything went off on schedule and without a hitch. It was a behemoth undertaking and I was really stressed out in trying to arrange some 68 seminars and (Prima Donna) speakers and ensuring that everything going on in the show was co-coordinated, and of course I had to listen to complaints about practically everything from the disgruntled few, (there is always a disgruntled few contingent in everything one does). I was so stressed and full of worry that things were going to implode/explode that I thought I was going to have a heart attack or something. I really thought that this was a disaster in the making and was ready to throw my hands up in despair when I happened upon some people attending the show that I knew. They were having a wonderful time and could not say enough about how great everything was and what a great job I had done in putting this show on. I remember thinking at the time, “if you only knew” , but then I realized that in spite of the many problems going on behind the scenes, that this thing was in reality a huge success in the making in spite of my problems! And it was
Since that time I have been involved at a high level in many endeavors and often it is the same. Behind the scenes the majority of the people are seldom privy to the problems, (some of them HUGE) associated with various difficulties associated with running a large organization. I have been in high level meetings whereby the future of everyone associated with the organization would be affected by the decisions of the few hapless souls gathered together to try and figure out the solution to some serious and perplexing problem. Usually everyone else in the organization is oblivious to what is going on and does not have a clue as to the serious pow wow’ occurring behind the scenes that will soon impact their future.
One thing I have learned as I grow older is that everything always eventually works out for the best and all of the worrying and stressed out hand wringing is for naught. Jesus had much to say about worry and warned us repeatedly not to engage in it. Worry is sin and is an expression of doubt in that we do not trust in the Lord enough to see us through the crises of life. Worry will not resolve any problem and will inevitably make things worse. It can be debilitating and even affect our health. Spend the time you waste on worrying thinking about ways to improve your situation or resolve the problem and/or praying about your situation and you will use your time far more wisely. Things, even terrible things, will eventually work out for the good of all and remember just as it was with my Sportsman Show; the reality of any situation is seldom nearly as bad as you perceive the situation to be when under fire. Trust in the Lord and you will be fine
Proverbs 3:5
Trust in the Lord with all your
heart,
And lean not on your own
understanding;
In all of your ways acknowledge
Him
And He shall direct your paths.
Don’t waste precious time
