It is easy to love the Lord when all is well, but what about the times everything is not going so smooth? Perhaps someone close to you is gravely ill and suffering, or even dies, or maybe you lose your job, or your spouse decides to divorce you, is your love for the Lord as solid at these times as it should be? Having faith in the Lord means a tremendous amount to God and the Bible speaks to this issue often. The entire chapter of Job, is an indication to me that life will not always be rosy, yet we should keep the faith always, and in the end things will work out for us. My personal experience is that I draw closer to the Lord during the rough times. I do not get mad at God or blame God for my misfortunes, because I have complete faith that God is good all of the time. The dark times are brought about by sin and the dark forces of the world. I am mad at satan all of the time because of the destruction that he brings upon us for his and the angels who joined him foolish pride and selfish ambition. In my mind there is no doubt about it that his days are surely numbered and God will make him pay for what he has done to all of humanity. Light defeats darkness and God is light.

When darkness enters your life, allow the light to come in. Increase your faith in God and keep your faith. Job stated that he entered the world naked and that is how he would depart. This is the same for all of us. What is really important in life is our spirit and our relationship with God. Our spirit lives on for eternity, while our bodies return to dust. That is why I hate open casket funerals. The body is not the same without the spirit and no mortician in the world can do justice to our lifeless corpse. It is a far cry from the glorious transformation that awaits a Christian. I want to remember those loved ones who depart as they were with their spirit intact and try to envision the tremendous joy they must be experiencing as they see heaven and our Lord and Savior, not as a lifeless corpse in a gilded box.

Keep the faith during the good and the bad times. Trust in the Lord whom the Bible states is constantly watching our every move. He loves you tremendously whether you are always completely aware of it and/or fully appreciate it or not…

Psalm 34:15
The eyes of the Lord are on the
righteous,
and His ears are open to their
cry.
The face of the Lord is against
those who do evil,
To cut off the remembrance of
them from the earth…
Many are the afflictions of the
righteous,
But the Lord delivers him
out of them all…
And none of them who trust in
Him shall be condemned.

How well do you know the Bible?
Where was Simon, the man who bore the cross of Jesus from?
Mark 15:21
