I had an opportunity to cheat a worker at my house out of some money the other day. No, I did not go through with it, but did have some fun with him. This guy does not speak English very well and it would have been easy to cheat him. When my kids were young, one had a friend that worked at an ice cream place. He came to me one day and suggested we go over there and get some “free” ice cream. Apparently his friend would give ice cream to his friends and not charge them for it. Not Good! I explained to him in no uncertain terms that his friend was stealing and he was participating in it. I encouraged him to go to his buddy and convince him to stop. I told him if he could not convince him to stop, I would notify the owner of the place.
I have owned several businesses and have had employees and others steal from me on many occasions. It is extremely difficult to end up with profit in business. Something like 10 out of twelve fail within the first 5 years. According to the Chamber of Commerce, at least one third fail because of employee theft. That is an amazing number. No employee would want an employer to take advantage of them and no employer wants the same. The golden rule tells us to do unto others as we would have them do to us. If this one rule were observed, all of the problems of the world would be resolved. Think about it.
God instructed us to love Him first and each other second. The old song, “All the world needs is love” rings true for all of eternity…The problem is that lust for material things can drive people to trade their true happiness and even their souls for the temporal things that will not accompany us when we depart this old world…
Matt. 16:26
For what profit is it to a man
if he gains the whole world, and
loses his own soul? Or what will
a man give in exchange for his
soul?
For the Son of Man will come
in the glory of His Father with His
angels, and then He will reward
each according to his works.
How well do you know the Bible?
Jesus appeared to His disciples after He rose from the dead. He asked for food. What was He served?
Luke 24:38-43
