I have never liked people who show partiality to a chosen few. I suppose I go back to my homeless days when everyone looked down on me and wouldnt give me the time of day and now that I have more financial wherewithal I am treated with great respect and often am shown partiality and it just doesnt sit well with me. Im the same person, yet people treat me entirely different. The Bible warns us not to show partiality.

I usually sit on the third or fourth row at church and several very poor people sit in front of me each and every week. A limited few of the affluent members that sit in this area often treat these people shabbily. They shake hands with those around them who happen to be wearing nice clothes with their big smiles displaying gleaming white teeth, and yet they always seem to avoid shaking hands with those who need haircuts and newer clothes. I have literally seen them turn their backs on these people to avoid eye contact or having to shake hands and welcome them to the House of God.

There is an old saying that you cant judge a book by looking at its cover and it applies to this subject. Some of the finest people that I know are the least financially successful. It is what is in someones heart that counts. Jesus loved the poor and less fortunate and said so numerous times. So should we…

James 2:9

But if you show partiality, you

commit sin and are convicted by the

law as transgressors.

What is the royal law?

James 2:8
