Price of freedom

We often hear of the price of freedom in terms of United States soldiers giving their lives in the line of duty in order that society may enjoy freedom. I have a deep admiration for the military in recent years that admittedly I have not always had. I admire and respect the courage of our United States soldiers and deeply appreciate their sacrifice on my behalf. I love freedom and want to stay that way. I was thinking the other day about what Jesus did in order that we might be free. Same concept, except He endured more for us than any soldier. I am not talking about the torturous way he was crucified; Im talking about a holy and perfect God, innocent of any misdeeds, taking on the sins of the world; every despicable deed ever performed. It was so bad His Father could not even look upon Him at the time it happened.



It is easy to see why God banishes from His presence those who reject his Sons sacrifice. I was amazed the other day in Sunday school to hear a kindly retired pastor that often speaks at our class, get up and announce that he had confronted an acquaintance that he had been trying to lead to the Lord. I was very familiar with whom he was talking about, as he had asked us to pray for this fellow often. He said that he had presented Gods plan to this man in detail over a period of months and that the man was fully aware of the choice between accepting Jesus, or rejecting Him. When my kindly pastor friend confronted this fellow and point blank asked him to either accept or reject Jesus, he rejected Jesus. This pastor stated that since this was his choice, even though he knew full well the consequence of his decision would result in his spending eternity in Hell that he was giving up on him and shaking the dust off his feet. He asked us to take the man off of the prayer list and move on to others. Whew!!!! This was a shock to me, just as it will be a shock to this fellow when he faces the stern face of a loving but righteous God who will condemn him to hell.



I have an acquaintance that is pretty much identical to this man. This person knows the Bible probably as well as I do and can quote scripture well. When asked if he were to die today would he go to Hell he answers in the affirmative. He refuses to go to church or take his family. He has rejected the holy sacrifice that the only living Son of God, Jesus made for him. Shake the dust? Im still working on him, but perhaps Im wasting my breath.



The price of freedom is spending eternity in Hell. Free will is only good if we make the right choice…



Free will to choose life and peace, or eternal condemnation for rejecting the sacrifice made by Jesus Christ, the choice is ours…

according to the Spirit, the things

of the spirit.

For to be carnally minded is

death, but to be spiritually minded

is life and peace.
