I have always heard that the love of money is the root of all evil. Not so. I was thinking about this the other day and was remembering satan and what he did in the Garden. The original sin here was foolish pride, not the love of money. Since pride was the original sin, how could the love of money be the root of all evil? I went back and looked carefully at the scripture and it clearly states in 1 Timothy 6:10: For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness and pierced themselves through with many sorrows. There you have it the love of money is A root of all kinds of evil. The Word of God clearly indicates that evil has more than one root, the love of money being one of them.
Dont miss the point too that money in itself is not a root of all sorts of evil; it is what we do with it. Money can help Gods cause mightily if it is used for that purpose. If God puts you in charge of a great sum of money, then keep the focus on doing His work. Remember to tithe; God requires that one tenth of our income be given to His church. Above the tithe we should give gifts as we can. That is a good formula for success. Currently if you are not tithing, I can only tell you that you are missing out on an opportunity of a lifetime, because it directly leads to increased blessings. Use money to take care of your family, and enjoy your life in this world as God intends, but stay focused on God. Use your money to further Gods work. If God sees that you can be trusted with a little, He just might give you a lot. If He does, be careful to remember where all blessings are derived, and keep your focus on God not the world.
1 Timothy 6:9
For those who desire to be rich
fall into temptation and a snare, and
into many foolish and harmful lusts
which draw men into destruction and
perdition.
How well do you know the Bible?
We can do things to receive the peace of God which surpasses all understanding, and will guard our hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
Rejoice in the Lord always!
Let our gentleness be known to all men.
