There is an old expression, “The devil made me do it”. Great Christians throughout the history of mankind have struggled with keeping their lives pure and not falling victim to sin even after they have accepted Christ as their Savior. The Bible tells us several things about this problem. One, we ALL face it from the greatest preacher on the face of the earth to the worst reprobate. Two, it will be with us until the day we die.Three, on occasion we will fall victim to it even after we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior. When we fail, we must ask God for forgiveness, repent and try harder next time.

If we could resist the temptation to sin and lead perfect lives, it would not have become necessary for Jesus to come to earth in the first place. He is the only person who ever lived a life in this world and never committed the first sin, thus becoming the perfect sacrifice for all of the world’s sins. It is through what HE did that we achieve salvation, not through our actions. His blood atones for our sins. It is mysterious, but the sacrifice of Jesuswho was perfect and without the first blemish is the only acceptable way for a perfect God toreconcile Himself to us and allow us into His holy presence.

Sin is inherited just like a flawed cancer gene. We must live with it; we must fight it. The fight cannot be won alone. Jesus Christ has faced sin and won the battle. It is important to call upon Him when we face temptation. Ask God to protect us with a ring of fire if necessary. If you are being tempted to sin, ask God to help you today. If you succumb to it, pick yourself up and try harder next time. You should hate it when sin gets the best of you, but keep in mind that unfortunately it does happens even to the best ofus. Jesus will forgive you if you sincerely feel sorry for your sins and you ask Him to forgive you.

Romans 7:19
For what I am doing, I do not
understand. For what I will to do, that
I do not practice; but what I hate,
that I do…
But I see another law in my
member, warring against the law of
my mind and bringing into
captivity to the law of sin which is in
my members.
O wretched man thatI am! Who
will deliver me from this body of
death?
I thank God through Jesus
Christ our Lord! So then, with
the mind I myself serve the law of
God, but with the flesh the law of
sin.
