One of the most frustrating things about witnessing to others is that occasionally one finds those who seemingly will not be convinced regardless of what is said. The Bible recounts the story of a beggar named Lazarus full of sores who laid at the gate of a rich man begging for crumbs from the rich man’s table. Moreover dogs came and licked his sores. The rich man on the other hand seemingly had it all and lived life to the fullest. Lazarus died and angels carried Lazarus to Abraham’s bosom in heaven. The rich man died and went to the torments of Hell. He begged Abraham to let Lazarus dip his finger in water and come cool his tongue from the torments of the flames. Abraham told him it was impossible. Then the rich man begged him to allow Lazarus to at least go to his five brothers and testify to them lest they join him in Hell. Abraham told him they should listen to Moses and the prophets of the Bible; and the rich man replied that they would not listen to them, but thatthey would listen to someone whoreturned from the dead. Abraham stated that if they did not believe the Bible then they would not listen even if someone returned from the dead.
I know people today with similar attitudes. I once had someone tell me that he just could not bring himself to believe the Bible because it was written in ancient times, but if God would write something in the sky today and/or talk directly to him, he would believe. I replied that CNN would just get an expert to claim it was some freaky gas in the atmosphere and he would believe CNN instead of his own eyes.Jesus performed miracles, healed the sick and lepers, fed the five thousand, raised the dead, walked on water, rose from the dead and later appeared to hundreds of people, and yet there were those who saw it alland refused to believe and there are those today who reuse to believe. Jesus Christ lived, was crucified, died, and rose again; you should believe it; the evidence is overwhelming.Satan tries to persuade people otherwise and is frequentlysuccessful. The Bible also states that Israel with Jerusalem as its capital is God’s special holy place and will remain so until Jesus returns. Yep, that is still true today as well. Israel and Jerusalem are at the center of the world today; turn on the TV or read the paper if you do not believe.
Don’t harden your heart and end up like the rich man and his five brothers. There is a heaven and there is a hell. You are going toone place or the other for eternity based upon your relationship with Christ and what you do with your life in this world. Ask God to forgive you of your sins and let Jesus come into your heart and you will be saved; otherwise you will be lost. Believe the Bible and act upon what it tells us.
