Have you ever known anyone that loved to argue? My youngest son’s first words were not Ma-ma, nor were they Da-Da; they were Nuh-Uh. He has been saying it ever since. No matter what anyone says, he will instinctively disagree. He has a particular liking for arguing about practically any subject. Fortunately his is not mean-spirited arguing; he is just arguing for arguing’s sake. By the way don’t bother asking him if what I have just said is true; he will simply argue that it isn’t true.
Personally I dislike arguing. I know I am always right and it is tiring trying to show others, particularly my youngest son, the error of their ways; so what is the use in arguing? (Just kidding). I read an interesting statement concerning this subject the other day: “I don’t have to attend every argument to which I am invited”. We would all do well to abide by this, because one of the requirements of conducting an argument is that it takes two parties. (Maybe not in my son’s case, but in most normal people’s cases.) Avoid arguments, it is the honorable thing.
