Do not conform

In order to become a Christian we must undoubtedly change. We cannot conform to the politically correct swings of popular opinion. The Bible should guide us in making decisions that He wants us to make. One thing I sometimes forget is that God is holy! He is calling us to be holy as well. I don’t want to be a wet blanket and rain on our parade, but the United states and modern society in general is a far cry from being holy. Grievous sin is commonplace anymore and abominable conduct is hardly noticed. God is calling us to remain steadfast in His Word and to reject the lusts of this world.

A holy God is calling you and I to be holy. We are tempted at every turn but we must ask God to help us resist the pull of the world. The Bible teaches that God’s grace is sufficient. In order to tap into it however, we must pray and work hard to remain pure.

Therefore gird up the loins of
your mind, be sober, and rest your
hope fully upon the grace that is to
be brought to you at the revelation
of Jesus Christ;
as obedient children, not
conforming yourselves to the former
lusts as in your ignorance;
but as He who called you is holy,
you also be holy in all your conduct,
because it is written, “Be holy
for I am holy.”
