I was fortunate enough to hear famous football coach Bobby Bowden speak last night. He is perhaps the greatest college football coach of all time. It was gratifying to hear him give God the credit for the many accomplishments of his life. The room was filled with aspiring football stars from every high school in our area. I would hazard a guess that 60% of the thousand plus people that were there were young people. They listened attentively as Bobby Bowden explained very candidly that being “good” will not get anyone to heaven, that the ONLY way to get there is through the blood of Jesus Christ.
This great man spends a tremendous amount of time telling others about Jesus. He had been to Houston the day before and was going somewhere else today for another speaking engagement and is booked solid with churches as far as the eye can see. Think how busy he must be running one of the most successful football programs in the United States. Yet he MAKES time to tell others about Jesus. He said that being a Christian is about making yourself AVAILABLE to the Lord. I believe that statement. He said that there are roughly two billion Christians out of the six billion people living in the world. He questioned why more of the two billion are not telling others about Jesus Christ and how to be saved. Good question, how do you answer it? It is all about making yourself available to the Lord for what HE wants you to do; to help spread the good news. Jesus identified the problem in the verse below. We need to make ourselves available to help resolve it. It is odd to me that as President and CEO of our company, I can identify a problem and ask for volunteers to work overtime to resolve it and get cooperation from practically everyone. Jesus identifies a problem and just a very few step up to the plate. A company can give promotions, stock options, and financial increase, for employee effort, but all those things will be gone like a vapor. Jesus Christ can give rewards that last forever! Think about it.

the laborers are few.
