Throughout the Bible God tells us that we should look to Jesus Christ as our ultimate example. One thing that stands out about Jesus Christ is his humility. From His birth to His entry to Jerusalem on a donkey, until His death on a rugged cross Christ was humble. The King of Kings was born in a manger, not Buckingham Palace. He was a carpenter who worked with His hands like an ordinary man. He did not ride around in carriages of gold; He walked. If anyone ever visited this planet that had a right to act like a King, it was Him, yet He was kind, gentle and humble.
Christ preached that we should treat everyone the same. “Do unto others as you would have them do unto to you”, is a cornerstone of our Christian faith. When I arrived in Atlanta, I did not have a penny to my name. My entire worldly possessions amounted to one change of clothes and a sleeping bag. I will never forget how people looked at me when I was dressed like a bum and needed a haircut as I walked downtown Atlanta. It is not the same look I receive when I board a plane and take my seat in first class wearing an Armani suit. The next time we look down on someone, we should think of Christ’s example. He said when you help someone who is down and out, someone who is sick or in jail, you are helping Him. If it were not for the grace of God, we would not be where we are. Golda Meir once said, “Don’t be so humble, you are not that great”. I say we should be humble because we are not that great.
God is great for giving us what we have. Be thankful always, and have some compassion for others.

Hebrews 13:1
Let brotherly love
continue.
Do not forget to entertain
strangers for by so doing some
have unwittingly entertained angels.
Remember the prisoners as if
chained with them – those who are
mistreated …
Humility
