God’s way is not the way of the world

I have a card under the glass on my desk that states:

“Don’t follow the world
Follow Jesus Christ!”

I display it to remind myself and others that the way of the world is not the way of Jesus Christ. It is sometimes difficult to take an unpopular position. Often Christians who stay the course will be saddled with a label, like: radical right wing fanatic, Christian far right, Jesus freak, Bible thumper, Holy roller and so forth.

The world labels homosexuals as being “gay” and for the most part is moving towards completely accepting homosexuality as being one’s sexual orientation and an acceptable lifestyle as they did in the days of Sodom and Gomorrah. God says it is an abomination; that it is sin and will be punished. The world labels those who believe the Bible concerning this subject as being “homophobic”, and narrow-minded; we believe that we are simply God-fearing Christians.

Abortion is just another of life’s “choices” to the world, and a baby in the womb is a “fetus”. The Bible states that it is a sin to kill, and
it doesn’t call an unborn child a fetus. The Bible states that John
the Baptist “leapt in his mother’s womb and was filled with the Holy Spirit when he heard the voice of Mary. It also states that God “knew
us in the womb”. The world’s view of things and God’s are dissimilar.

God’s way is peaceful, kind, forgiving, and gentle. The world is filled with strife, chaos, rage, fear and mean streets. Those who follow the world will not find peace. Peace comes from God. As for me, I will follow Jesus. If some one wants to call me a right wing fanatic, or a “Holy Roller”, then so be it. I will agree with them and in fact mention to them that I’m getting ready to roll all over heaven.

Don’t follow the world
Follow Jesus Christ!

1 John:2:17
For all that is in the world – the
lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world.
And the world is passing away,
and the lust of it; but he who does
the will of God abides forever.

Matt. 16:26
For what profit is it to a man
if he gains the whole world and
loses his own soul? Or what will
a man give in exchange for his
own soul?

Eph. 4:31
Let all bitterness, wrath, anger,
clamor, and evil speaking be
put away from you, with all
malice.
And be kind to one another,
tenderhearted, forgiving one
another even as God in Christ forgave
you.
