Are you worried about money problems? Jesus teaches that worry is wrong. When you think about it, worry is the opposite of faith. The Bible teaches that God will provide the necessities of His children according to His will for their life. If you are a Christian and you accept the Bible as being the unerring Word of God, then you should really have nothing to worry about, that is unless you are not content with the “necessities” according to “God’s will” for your life.

One worry problem that arises more often than not is that we are not content with what we have and we want to accumulate more and more and more of the material things of life. This too often leads to overextending ourselves. Credit card debt is one good example. There is a staggering amount of credit card debt in this country which is one of the primary reasons that we have reached an all time high number of personal bankruptcies in this country. Worry about money problems to finance this accumulation of material things is one of the leading reasons for divorce in this country. Yet the stupidity of this mantra is revealed when we depart this earth, as not one dime will go with us, not any shiny cars, not any furniture, first or second homes, not even the beloved Bass Boat. Material things are temporal, meaning we “own”
them temporarily. When we die they remain, and we go. So why work so hard to accumulate something that is only temporary? The Bible tells us to work hard for treasures that are permanent throughout eternity. What we do for God builds treasures in heaven for eternity. There is where our emphasis should be.

We should seek God’s treasures, not earthly treasures. If our hearts are right, we will have everything that we really need added to us during the short period of time that we reside on earth, and we will be able to enjoy our heavenly treasures for eternity. Who knows, we might enter heaven and be given a Bass Boat that doesn’t guzzle gas and in which we always catch Bass. Sounds like heaven to me.

Luke 12:33
Sell what you have and give
alms; provide yourselves money
bags which do not grow old, a
treasure in the heavens that does not fail, where no thief approaches nor moth destroys.
For where your treasure is, there
your heart will be also.
