I was thinking the other day about how clearly the Bible illustrates God’s messages through ideas that are intimately familiar to us. If you look closely, the illustrations throughout the Bible are very carefully presented in such a manner that anyone can understand them. One concept is that we are children of God. If you can picture God as a loving Father and us as typical children, I think you would be on target. It is a message that is presented over and over again. When I think of this concept, I think of my own children and how much I love them. I love them and I am proud when they do the things that are right in life. My love for them remains even when they make mistakes and/or behave badly. When they were small I did not punish them because I enjoyed it. I hated it almost as much as they did, (almost). I corrected them because I loved them. My motivation for my children has always been the same, I want the very best for them. God is the same, only He is perfect in His love for us and His desire for a close personal relationship with us. We should not resent what happens in our lives. We should look for the message of a loving Father who is working behind the scenes in our lives. When appropriate, He will reward us, punish us, teach us and one thing for certain He will stick with us through “thick and thin”. A relationship with a Father is a two-way street. Children should honor and respect their Father. (This is one of the ten commandments). It does not work well if we are rebellious, or in some cases spurn His love entirely, tell Him we do not need Him, and try to make it on our own. The Bible states that our Father is always available for us. All we have to do is ask and all of His resources are available to us. That is quite a perk, as there is no resource that He doesn’t have available to Him. Just keep in mind that as typical children, we do not always know what is best for us. So when you pray and pray and pray and do not receive what you want, consider it is not because your Father is not listening; it is because He has said no, or not right now. Have you ever taken a dangerous object from a
child and listened to them scream bloody murder? A child sometimes
wants the very things it does not need, and in fact if the Father does not intervene, some of these things could even take its very life.
Father know best, but you will not easily convince the child.

Matthew 7:11
“If you then, being evil, know
how to give good gifts to your
children, how much more will your
Father who is in heaven give good
things to those who ask Him!”
