I had an opportunity to spend the weekend at Eagles Ranch this past weekend.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Eagle Ranch, it provides a Christian home for neglected, abused and disadvantaged children. Last Christmas Horizon employees provided Christmas presents for the children living on the Ranch. It was a wonderful experience for them and for us.
In addition to a stable, loving home, the folks running the Ranch provide much needed professional therapy and counseling to these mixed-up kids. Most are far behind in school and they are provided remedial education and much needed one-on-one training. Make no doubt about it, Christ is central to the program. In this secular world this is often perceived in a negative light; however their work and most importantly the RESULTS are highly praised by Non-Christians as well as Christians. The Ranch was founded in 1985 and since then they have achieved excellent results, having succeeded in turning countless boy’s lives around. It is obvious that God is present at this place.
Currently the Ranch houses 42 boys. For the first time they will soon be housing girls. Two new girl’s homes have just been completed. Recently several people have mentioned to me that they would like to contribute to a good cause. I can think of no better cause than Eagle’s Ranch. They rely primarily on small contributions for their operational budget. The need is huge and the contributions are small. If interested in helping a bunch of great kids get their lives back together again, I urge you to join me in donating a tax-deductible contribution to this excellent organization. If you work for Horizon, you can have a continuing contribution via payroll deduction and have it direct-deposited into their account. If you wish to deal directly with them and/or want more information, you can send it to:
Eagle Ranch, PO box 7200, Chestnut Mountain Ga. 30502-0500. Their phone number is: 770-967-8500. They are a bunch of great people doing a mighty work for God.
No donation is too small, (or large-ha), I was told that a little old lady sent in a check the other day for two dollars. I feel sure that this was a lot of money to her and was given sacrificially, (widow’s mite offering).
Most of us can afford much more. Most came from good homes with loving parents and really don’t know what it would be like to have an abusive, alcoholic abusing parent or parents. God blessed you, and now maybe you can return the favor by turning a small portion of your blessings into a perhaps life-saving blessing for these unfortunate children. These kids need a facility like Eagle’s Ranch to help them. What would become of them if it were not for God’s people at Eagle’s Ranch who are so devoted to helping them to “soar with wings as eagles”? I hate to think about it….Jail, drugs, joining a gang, suicide, alcohol, fights, failure, turning into an abusive parent themselves and repeating the process for another generation.

Isaiah 40:30
Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall.
But those who trust in the Lord for help will find their strength renewed.
They will soar with wings as eagles.
