With the latest school shooting, once again everyone is howling about guns. My question to these people is why do they not apply the same logic to automobiles. Another California kid recently deliberately drove his automobile into a crowd of kids killing several and injuring several more. There is no clamor to take away automobiles. Someone gets killed every day by a drunken driver, but no one is clamoring to get rid of alcohol and/or automobiles. Guns are not the problem.
Americans have had guns in their homes since this land was settled. The problem is with our society in general. Our society’s families are disappearing. The kid that shot the others came from a typical situation in America, a broken home. His parents got divorced, he was lonely, having being jerked out of the school where he had friends in Maryland, drug all of the way across country to California and bullies, (probably gangs), in the new school were picking on him. I moved extensively from school to school throughout my life and it is not fun.
It is lonely. I went to so many different schools that I cannot even remember them all, including three different high schools and have endured the bullies picking on the new kid on the block every time I attended a new school. My strategy eventually became to start a fight the first day I got there with the first person that started on me and establish that I was not going to allow anyone to pick on me. Sometimes it took more than one to establish myself. I got in a lot of fights.
I’m glad that I was not raised during these current times. Our fights were with fists, not guns. I have had guns in my house for my entire life. It would have never crossed my mind to take one to school, or to settle a fight with one. If I had been raised in today’s times, it might have been different.
The problem today is that the ten commandments have been taken away by the ACLU and replaced with lawlessness and rage. Kids are fed a daily diet of violence, immorality, pornography, and chaos via television, movies and the music of today. Parents are missing in action. There is no one to teach the kids right from wrong. There is no spiritual training. Life is not valued. When the family unit broke down in Rome and other great civilizations it was the beginning of the end for that civilization. We are seeing the same thing today right here in this country with 52% of marriages ending up in divorce. The typical family unit is disappearing. Kids are raising themselves and not doing a very good job of it. It is not so much a bunch of bad kids, rather a whole lot of bad parents who are more concerned with themselves than their children. What we need is spiritual revival and prayer. People considering divorce should consider their kids, and try HARDER to work out their problems. According to the Bible marriage is supposed to be forever. According to our society, it is just another “choice”.
Generally the more famous the movie star, athlete, or other “idol”, the more times they have been divorced. It is just accepted. God says it is wrong, and as always, He is “perfectly” right. Just look what it is doing to our society.
Ban guns and they will do as Timothy McVeigh did. They will go to the internet, find out how to make a bomb out of fertilizer and blow up the entire school. What then? Ban fertilizer?
