The “Golden Rule”

Recently someone who I thought was a good friend of mine went behind my back and tried to recruit one of my employees. I really felt betrayed by this, as I felt that our friendship should have meant more than the benefit of having the individual that they wanted to steal, (albeit, the individual is very talented). It just goes to show you that some folks just seem to keep their eyes on themselves and have little or no consideration for others. It seems that this is the way of the world anymore. People have a need and they try to fulfill it anyway that they
can regardless of who gets hurt in the process.

Not long ago I wrote about the subject of friendship, and I stated that it is very difficult to obtain good friends. If we want to have, (and
keep) good friends, it is essential that we treat everyone the way that we would like to be treated. I’m sure if my “friend” would have thought about this “Golden Rule”, the offer to my employee would never have been made, unless it was first presented to me. I would not even consider trying to lure away an employee from a friend behind my friend’s back,
because I would not want them doing it to me.

I really like the Golden Rule and after thinking about this experience in these terms I am re-committing myself to treating everyone the way that I would like to be treated. What a wonderful world it would be if everyone would follow this simple rule. Just think there would be no reason for ever losing a friend, there would be no war, fighting, bickering, divorce, stealing, murder, and a host of other things gone haywire in this crazy world. I hope that you will join me in this.
Satan cannot defeat us if we abide by this rule. Pray about it, think about it, and then “Just do it”!

God. Resist the devil, and he will
Flee from you
