Yesterday was a historic day in America. RU486 was approved for use in the United States. Now you can take pills and kill your baby. Take two pills the first day and it serves as a beta blocker to hormones going to the baby. Take three pills the next day and you will have a miscarriage. It is effective something like 19 of 20 times. Taking an innocent baby’s life has never been easier. We are told that aside from painful cramps which can be quite severe and profuse bleeding there are no harmful side-effects. I do not believe that statement. You will undoubtedly have the side effect of living with guilt and deep regret for taking your baby’s life. I believe this guilt will follow you for the rest of your life. Abortion is wrong and I do not believe that God will allow such a thing to occur without consequences. The consequences could be levied against our entire nation. Approximately One million babies were aborted last year in the United States. I cannot envision the creator of all life being happy about that. I fear God’s wrath.
The Presidential candidates’ reactions to the RU486 announcement were quite different. George Bush said that it was “regrettable”. Gore was gleeful, saying it was a step in the right direction and that he firmly believed in the right to “choose”. I hate to hear that “choose”
terminology. No one has the right to “choose” to murder their innocent baby. What about the baby’s “right to choose” to live? I agree that it is a tough question and depends upon one’s interpretation of whether or not life begins in the womb, or after birth. When faced with tough, difficult questions that appear to be ambiguous and there is no concise statement about it in the Bible, I ask myself the question, What would Jesus say about this issue? I do not see how anyone who is a Christian would think that Jesus would support abortion. Can you picture Him saying, “Sure, go ahead, there is nothing wrong with “terminating your pregnancy”. Conversely, I can easily picture Satan saying such a thing.
Gore did not always profess this Pro Choice belief, but I guess votes mean more than conscience. He is supported by the homosexual lobby, Hollywood “anything goes” crowd, the mafia- controlled labor unions and abortionists, just like Clinton was. I pray that he does not win. There is no telling how much lower our country will sink with another four years of immoral, ungodly leadership. I certainly do not think that Bush will single-handedly change policies like this and purge evil from our society, but it is a step in the right direction. When asked who he admired most, Bush replied, “Jesus Christ”. That took courage, because he knew it was not the “politically correct” thing to do and he was ridiculed for it. At least he stood up for his beliefs. Gore just says whatever he thinks that people want to hear based on a poll, just like Clinton.
I love this country but I am ashamed of policies like the RU486 and “Partial Birth” abortion laws. Aside from casting our votes for people who profess Godly beliefs we can take a stand against this policy in other ways, particularly with prayer. This Sunday from 2:00-3:00 P.M.
at First Baptist Church in Snellville, Christians will line the streets of Hwy. 78 to join hands and take a stand against abortion. Churches all across America will do likewise. Pro-life signs will be held, but there will be no interaction with passers-by, just a silent, prayerful stand against one of the most vile practices that this great country ever enacted. Perhaps you could join such an event and take a stand.
