I borrowed $1000 on my credit card to start my first business. In the early days I literally worked 20 hours per day, seven days per week, for seven long years to make a go of it. I risked everything I owned including my home, (and very nearly lost it), I sacrificed time with my family, I worked while others engaged in leisure activity, I underwent unbelievable stress, and often didn’t take a salary in order to make payroll and keep the lights on. I was creative and innovative and with little formal education taught myself how to run a business.
Now forty years and 11 businesses later, I’m old. As I look back on my accomplishments I’m proud of every single one of those companies, not just because I have attained some wealth and material possessions through them, but because along the way I have positively affected thousands of families monetarily and otherwise as a direct result of my entrepreneurial drive.
Now comes our illustrious prez saying over the weekend, and I quote: “If you got a business, you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.” He went on with his rant and said it was government that made it happen.
GR-R-R-R-RRRRRRRRRRRRR
This bonehead clown who never had a job aside from organizing people to march downtown and protest tells me that I didn’t make my businesses happen, and that government did?
Geez Louise he doesn’t have a clue how our economy works. Great companies work because of a combination of great leadership and great employees, not because of government. I’ve paid millions and millions in taxes to help pay for government infrastructure which is needed in a civilized country, but don’t let him fool anyone with this ignorant class warfare rhetoric; government is inefficient, wasteful, corrupt, and couldn’t run a business properly in a million years.
Somebody ought to clue the prez in and let him in on a little secret, state run entities don’t work. Take a look a Cuba, and the former Soviet Union. Karl Marx’s communist doctrine does not work; government can’t even run the post office and they ought to sell it to UPS and Fed Ex.
This country will sink faster than we can bail water if this idiotic thinking prevails. I wish that our president would go to church or just maybe pick up a Bible and read it. Some people are poor through absolutely no fault of their own and the churches and Christians should take care of them; however most in this country are poor because they refuse to work. Proverbs was written by the person that the Bible declares to be the wisest and richest man the world will ever know. He compared these human beings to the lowly ant.
Proverbs 6:6
Go to the ant, O sluggard,
Observe her ways and be wise,
Which, having no chief,
Officer or ruler,
Prepares her food in the summer
And gathers her provision in the harvest.
How long will you lie down, O sluggard?
When will you arise from your sleep?
“A little sleep, a little slumber,
A little folding of the hands to rest”—
Your poverty will come in like a vagabond
And your need like an armed man.
Our prez told “Joe the plumber” last year that the material possessions derived from his hard work in his little plumbing business should be “spread around a little”.
This is his mantra. Obama’s philosophy is to redistribute wealth in this country which simply means take what others have earned and give it to those who haven’t done much of anything, but sit on their fat butts on their front porches drinking wine and smoking crack.
In case you haven’t noticed more and more people are doing that these days and now our government is running ads encouraging people to get on food stamps and Obama has declared that we are not to enforce our laws and require people to work in order to receive welfare payments.
This is beyond absurd and so unbelievable that no one could make it up.
The Apostle Paul tendered some good advice for our current welfare state. If only we would heed it, maybe the economy would turn around…
2 Thessalonians 3:10
Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.”
